About Belgian Bar
Belgian Bar is a bar and restaurant at 40 Greenwood St in Altrincham, built around a carefully selected Belgian beer range alongside other European and local beers. The list leans on bottles with a few beers on draft, and St-Feuillien Blond, La Chouffe and Rochefort 8 are among the Belgian choices. The building spans two floors, and a real open fire burns in the bar. Table service brings out a tapas menu with generous portions, and wines, spirits and cocktails are poured as well. Music from the 70s and 80s plays at a moderate volume, with live music on Thursdays and selected Sundays, and a Sunday roast is on the menu. The bar is open Tuesday to Sunday and closed Mondays. Private events can be arranged with bespoke catering and drinks packages.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the Belgian and European beer, singling out St-Feuillien Blond on tap, Rochefort 8 and a bottled list that one calls a break from the hoppy craft norm. Close behind is the food: the chicken and halloumi giros and tapas draw praise for generous portions, and one vegetarian reviewer who avoids eggs found plenty to choose from. The real fire warming both floors comes up several times, along with friendly table service, and one reviewer liked the 70s and 80s music at a sensible volume. The caveats are about service and upkeep. One reviewer found the servers laissez-faire and wanted the venue and toilets given more care, and another calls the bar small with service that varies if the timing is wrong. Still, one reviewer asked for a beer like La Chouffe on tap and the owner pointed them to one, and some were also given salty nacho-style chips.

“Here’s the thing… We met friends on an impromptu after work drink that kinda turned into an evening out. We had a few great beers here, they have a good international selection. As we all know that drinking with empty bellies leads to trouble so we grabbed a couple of the Giro’s - chicken / Halloumi. Wowzers… They were delicious, simple maybe but made with love and care - completely ‘hit the spot’. It’s a good place although the servers seemed a little laissez-faire and need direction, the venue and toilets would benefit from a little more love but we will definitely be back to sample more of the tapas menu. Thank you”

“Such a cosy little bar with amazing service and an amazing choice of European beers! We visited a couple of weeks ago for my birthday and it just felt so lovely and cosy and we were so very well looked after. I’d recommend this if you’re interested in beer and you’re in central Altrincham looking for something a bit different to your local”

“Bar and Restaurant serving fantastic food and an extensive range of Local and European Beers, with a carefully selected Belgian range. Wines, spirits, cocktails and more also available. The bar spreads across two floors, with a a large open fire in the winter (or colder days!) and we have a patio area for outdoor seating. Enjoy occasional live music on Thursdays and selected Sundays perfect with our recommended Sunday Roast. The layout of the bar makes it a great venue for private events and we offer bespoke catering and drinks packages. Dog and child friendly (within reason!) making us a great place for the whole family.”
