  “We have been regular visitors for couple of years now. The food and the service is always impecable. Either for lunch, dinner, Sunday roast or just for desset with coffee we couldnt recommend this place enough. Family and dog friendly. For weekends I would advise booking in advance.”

  “Only went and booked and booked a full ladies haircut, turned up but the lovely owner said she can fit me in Upstepped Alex the absolute hero, nice guy knew what was best for me. 25 minutes later I'm out with a funky well trimmed perfect head of hair and very happy.”

  “Popped in on a scorching summer day. Staff were all lovely and so friendly and helpful - we had Jonah, Sam and Owen looking after us 3 ladies and they are all a credit to the team. Manager Paul checked in on us too and has great rapport with the staff and customers. All in all we had a delightful afternoon and delicious food ... I highly recommend the Tower Burger ... mmm! x”

  “Wonderful little pub! Service was amazing really attentive polite, no issues at all. Food was really nice, the only thing I could knock would be the cheese and onion pie. Cheese and onion pie should have a slight ooze to it, taste an intense cheesy flavour and see the onions, but this was a solid mass, it was a quiche set with egg, not what I would call a cheese and onion pie, maybe slightly lacking in portion size of chips but all in all, it was pleasant! Maybe another nice lager option like asahi, or sale de mari would be 👌.”

  “Been here a few times, great food and drinks really clean, well kept and looked after, it's got a big beer garden and even a play area for kids, it can be a bit expensive especially for drinks but thats because this place is more about enjoying a good meal with family/friends than going for a night out with the lads.”

  “Fantastic country pub with great food and a lovely atmosphere. Very welcoming inside and the outdoor space is perfect for families and children. There is a wide choice of beers and the JW Lees stout is excellent!”

  “Absolutely fantastic, the meals was exquisite, the chicken liver pate was the best my wife and I had ever tasted, the steak was cooked to perfection mediun rare, melted in the mouth, my fish pie was a taste sensation. And the donuts in maple syrup was sugary surprise. Coupled with a fantastic atmosphere just made our romantic 43rd Anniversary so special our heart felt thanks go out to the team especially Ellie our waitress for the evening, kind regards Mr and Mrs Hurst.”

  “14th January 2026 Wandering Wednesday this week took Hubby Neil and I back up the road to Dunham Massey, to a pub not too far from where we were on Sunday….. this pub is called ‘The Rope and Anchor, a lovely pub in the countryside….. and he pub itself is very clean, with olde worlde decor. Our server today was a gentleman called Jonah, he was smartly dressed, polite, very well mannered and attentive….thank you Jonah. We had starters this week: Neil had Garlic & Stilton mushrooms with warm mop up bread. I had Crispy glazed chicken wings with a smoky diablo dip. Entrée’s: Neil had Grilled smoked bacon loin chop, poached egg, grain mustard mash, buttered spinach and parsley cream. I had (not Fish & Chips!!!🤣) Brewery Tower burger Two beef patties, BBQ pulled beef brisket, dill pickle, dry cured bacon, relish & Monterey Jack on a sourdough bun, topped with a battered onion ring, served with skinny fries….. but changed my fries to chunky chips. Side of onion rings to share. All washed down with a large Coke each. This pub was recommended by a fellow co-worker, we really enjoyed it….. thanks James xx”

  “It was very quiet, so hard to judge atmosphere only criticism of the food was that the pie was dry and looked like it had been warm for some time. Once a good quantity of gravy was poured on it it improved. Fish pie was great and large portions. Staff were the best part of the visit very helpful friendly and efficient.”

  “This is just the most wonderful way to spend a Sunday and I suspect other days of the week too. The fact that they had live music on just added to the ambiance of this modern feeling yet traditional Pub. We went on a Sunday and the staff are so fully attentive and the dishes absolutely are amazing and also look amazing. So even though we didn't have the shared roast platter that people next to us did, and they made full use of the unlimited Yorkshire pudding situation too! I heard and overheard people saying just how good the food was and we enjoyed our veggie roast and most definitely the desserts too! They had Theo Dussek in to do a live music set, which absolutely complemented the dining experience. We stayed to listen to both sets during the afternoon, and I can think of nowhere else to spend a good chunk of time in with friends or family being nourished by great service, great food and a great atmosphere too. Paul and Tom Run this Pub with love and care, for both staff and customers alike. That shows up in the attention paid to little things, staff being fast with extra things like sauces or just picking up napkins from the floor. Nothing is too little to make sure that the atmosphere is just right for all the guests that are dining. It's a popular place, and I would recommend checking or booking if you are coming, as it is a destination. One of the great things I loved about it is that they also have their own little published brochure of walks in the area. This just highlighted how much they want to be a pub at the heart of the community in which they are. I really can't say enough good things about it, I would just recommend that you try it!”
