About The Barn Owl Inn
The Barn Owl Inn is a pub in Lymm on Warrington Ln, set on the side of the canal. About five private, weatherproof pods overlook the boats, and guests can book them or use one if it is free. The chefs make meals to order, using locally sourced beef from the pub's butcher and fresh produce. The Steak and Ale Pie sits alongside a roast dinner with a Yorkshire pudding, and the chips are home made and hand cooked. Italian style pizza is stonebaked to order, and fresh fish is delivered for the kitchen. A 60+ menu and a concessionary lunch are also on offer.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the canal setting, especially the waterside pods where diners watch boats go past and the sunsets over the water. Food draws praise close behind, with the roast dinner and its golden Yorkshire pudding, a steak and onion baguette with chips and coleslaw, and the concessionary and 60+ lunch menus described as good value. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, welcoming and helpful, and one group lunch in the conservatory went smoothly. One reviewer finds the boat moored nearby spoils the view from most pods. The negatives are sharp, though. One diner describes a microwaved roast dinner, a hot honey burger with no hot honey and frozen-tasting Brie bites, served by a miserable waitress who dumped the drinks on the table. Another family walked out before ordering after a waitress spoke to them rudely. A third visit brought small portions and no cutlery or napkins until the table asked.

“Absolutely faultless. The restaurant is so clean and well spaced out. You can eat inside or outside, along the canal, and can even purchase duck food. The staff are all very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food is amazing. We all really enjoyed our meals and thought the prices were very fair too.”

“We had a fantastic time dining here. The food was absolutely delicious, and the roast dinner, complete with a perfectly golden Yorkshire pudding, was a real treat. Everything was cooked to perfection. It is such a beautiful location right on the water. Watching the sun set over the canal while enjoying a drink was the perfect way to spend the evening. We will definitely be coming back soon.”

“I’m really unsure on how this has 4.4 stars, I visit a lot around Lymm and this was last minute, but from the moment we walk in and got give paper menus with spelling mistakes on and pointed in direction of our table I had a feeling, waitress was extremely miserable without being rude as were all the staff, ordered drinks and they were just dumped on the table without any interaction at all, then the food came and the roast dinner was fully microwaved, smelt very stale and like it was cooked at 11/12 o clock in the day, the hot honey burger was awful just a stale beef burger with no hot honey what so ever, the side dish of Brie bites were basically just frozen processed bites stuck in an air fryer, so im afraid this place should really not be located in this area of nice restaurants and lovely pubs. I’m really gobsmacked on the rating of this place and in not over exaggerating. Please do yourself a favour and visit somewhere local like little manor, jolly thresher, or pretty much any other pub in Lymm. A very poor experience service and food for us. It’s a shame as the location and premises could be so much more with fresh cooked food and nice polite service.”

“I am extremely disappointed with my experience at The Barn Owl in Lymm. From the moment we arrived, the waitress who served us was incredibly rude, unwelcoming, and completely unprofessional. Her attitude towards us was shocking. She spoke to us in a foul, dismissive manner that made us feel uncomfortable and completely unwelcome. We were genuinely taken aback by how we were treated, especially as we had simply come to enjoy a meal. Unfortunately, the service was so poor that we made the decision to leave before even ordering. We’ve never felt the need to walk out of a restaurant before, but the way we were spoken to left us with no desire to stay. Customer service is just as important as the food, and on this occasion it was completely unacceptable. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as no customer should be made to feel the way we did especially with 4 young children with us. Would avoid like the plague”
