About Urth Caffe

Urth Caffe is a coffee shop in Los Angeles, operating as part of a busy chain of coffeehouses with counter service and patio seating. Its identity blends a coffee-focused concept with an extensive American menu, and the subcategories point to an organic, health-conscious direction alongside açaí and European influences. Much of the menu's appeal comes from sweet counter items that complement the coffee program, with Blueberry Cheesecake and Urth Fruit Tarts Individual listed among the popular dishes. The Urth Cafe entry anchors the food side, reinforcing the idea that this is a full-service coffeehouse rather than a simple espresso bar. Mains range from light bites to larger options, supporting everything from a quick coffee break to a longer meal. Patio seating adds an outdoor option for casual dining or laptop work, while the counter-service format keeps ordering straightforward. The setting on Hewitt Street places it within reach of the surrounding neighborhood, and the organic and health-food emphasis shapes both the menu and the overall character of the place.

Customer Review Summary

The Spanish latte comes up repeatedly as a standout, with one reviewer calling it "that of my dreams" and another praising its smooth, not-too-sweet profile. Diners also single out the desserts, especially the cheesecake and fruit tarts, as worth ordering on their own. The Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon draws repeat visits, and the panini and breakfast sandwiches get solid marks for being filling and well toasted. The counter-service line is the recurring friction point: multiple reviewers note you must queue each time you want to order, and a few advise deciding on food and dessert before reaching the counter. Opinions on the broader food menu are mixed, with one diner finding dishes like Huevos Rancheros and short ribs underwhelming on taste despite strong presentation, and another noting the avocado toast bread is too thick. Service is generally described as friendly, though a couple of reviewers mention slower pacing during busy stretches.

I stopped by Urth Caffé in the Arts District after walking around the area for a bit. The place was busy but still had a relaxed vibe. I ordered a Spanish latte and a breakfast sandwich, and both were good without feeling overhyped. The coffee was smooth and not too sweet, which I liked. The outdoor seating was probably my favorite part since it felt nice to just sit and people-watch for a while. Service was a little slow during the rush, but the staff were still friendly. Overall, it’s a solid café if you want a comfortable spot to hang out, grab coffee, and take a break from the city.

Me and my friend visited this location this past Saturday for the first time. I ordered an avocado toast, which doesn’t come with any protein and the toast is way too thick for me. They are generous on the avocado but it was a bit much for me. I would rather have a thinner bread and and nice avocado spread instead of smashed avocado chunks. I paid extra $3 for a single egg but it was a small egg they should at least give out 2 for that price. I order an iced matcha. It was good but sweet. Id ask for less sweet if I ever go again. My friend ordered a turkey sandwich I think his was $24 dollars, and a strawberry lemonade. The drink was good. The sandwich had a thick bread it was hard to get a good bite. When I asked for an egg after I got my plate they were fast, I didn’t have to return to the line to pay for it and the manager was nice.

This café was such a nice find. The food tasted fresh and flavorful, and everything felt well made instead of rushed or generic. It’s one of those places where even simple menu items feel thoughtfully prepared. …

Felt like a late bloomer, but I finally experienced Urth Cafe for the first time today 😮‍💨 I can understand what makes it “overrated” lol. The drinks were excellent; the Spanish latte is that of my dreams. …

We took the buns to our tables and waited for our Panini to be served via a number placed at our table. Service was prompt and the panini was sent to our table in about 10 minutes. The panini was nicely toasted and crisp on the outside. It …
