About Los Moros
Los Moros is a North African restaurant at 15-17 Grape Ln in York, set in an old brick building with a garden. The menu is built around small plates for sharing, including a baked whole cauliflower and hummus, with a meat hummus as a variation. Beef cheeks and roasted lamb cover the heavier end of the list, and crispy chicken and prawns are also on it. The house has its own branded pale ale, so the drinks list includes a beer made for the restaurant. Los Moros opens Tuesday to Saturday and is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the baked cauliflower, served whole and described as enough for two, alongside juicy prawns, beef cheeks that melt in the mouth, and lamb roasted pink. Close behind are the soft, creamy hummus, including a meat version, and the crispy chicken. Reviewers also praise the small plates, the dietary alternatives, and the care taken over allergies, with several describing a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and nice wine. The recurring complaint is slow service. One reviewer describes long waits just to place drink orders, and another reports a gap of around 20 minutes between courses on a quiet Tuesday. A third says tables seated later were served first, requests had to be repeated, and the lamb finally arrived cold, though well seasoned. A nearby group of six reportedly refused to pay the gratuity over their wait. Others describe food arriving freshly prepared without a long wait, and one calls the service impeccable for a booking of five.

“Food, for the most part, was really good. Service was, for the most part, truly bad. It is always sad when the front of the house drags good cuisine down. Service was slow and also uneven. We had to ask for things repeatedly. We were promised things repeatedly that did not arrive. At least two tables arrived after us, ordered more food than us, and were gone long before us. Dishes we ordered quite a time before those that arrived after us came to them but not us. I tire of restaurants who say you will have your table for only 90 minutes but then take nearly two hours to get your food out. Us not being from here seemed to be part of it. But I can tell you one group of locals next to us, a group of 6, who were so upset about their wait refused to pay the gratuity at the end. Actually I have never witnessed that. I would not have done that as I don’t believe in it but I certainly understood it after our experience . When our lamb did arrive, after asking two different servers to check, and after a table who arrived after us received theirs, ours arrived cold. The seasoning was very good. Like I said food, great, but extremely slow, and not good enough for us ever to return.”

“Me and my wife have eaten at a fair few places in York over the years. We tried LOS MOROS after my wife's friend recommended it. WOW. The food was amazing. We had the cauliflower. Wasnt expecting a whole cauliflower. Amazing. The prawns juicy. Followed by the beef cheeks. Melt in your mouth. And the lamb, pink roasted to perfection. And everything so flavourful. The young lady that served was so attentive. Can't wait to come back again and try more of this amazing food. Thank you so much Los Moros.”

“The food was faultless—absolutely amazing, with great dietary alternatives available. However, the service was very disappointing. We were left waiting a long time just to place drink orders and get attention from staff. While I understand that freshly made food can take time, there was around a 20-minute gap between courses, which felt excessive—especially as it wasn’t busy (it was a Tuesday). Aside from the service, everything else was great.”

“Excellent meal on Friday. Me and two friends effectively ordered everything on the menu and nothing disappointed. Highlights included the meat hummus and the chicken.”
