Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the deep fried brie, praised for the ooze of cheese when cut and the chutney alongside. Close behind are the tiramisu, one reviewer's best ever, and the lasagne, including a vegetarian version described as made from scratch. Arancini, seafood risotto, seafood linguine, cannelloni and a gluten free carbonara with fusilli and garlic bread also earn praise, and one reviewer notes the ample vegetarian choice. The set and lunch menus are called generous for the money. Complaints are specific. The open kitchen can be loud enough to make conversation difficult in a small room with closely spaced tables. One main could have been hotter, one lasagne wanted more beef, and an apple and apricot pastry was soggy. The top floor felt cold and lacked atmosphere at first, while downstairs was livelier. Staff are called welcoming and quick without rushing anyone, and one reviewer noticed fresh forks arriving after the starter without being asked.

“Great resto in York. I tried the carbonara and garlic bread - both gluten free. They have gf fusilli available. The garlic bread was like a pizza - great gf crust.”

“We booked this restaurant last minute on a Tuesday evening. We were given the option to sit upstairs, which we did. The atmosphere was lovely, busy but the staff managed perfectly. We had the 2 course set menu, spinach and ricotta cannelloni, lasagne, tiramisu and torta di mele. The only small criticism was that the lasagne could have done with more beef. Other than that it all tasted amazing - the best tiramisu I have ever had. A mention has to go to Elle, she was really friendly, attentive and was very knowledgeable regarding the menu. Next time we visit York, we will definitely be back. Thanks ☺️”

“This review was overdue by about 6 months. I visited York in Jan '26 for a escape from London and decided to walk-in on a quiet rainy night by myself. Boy it was such a beautiful decision. Their Deep fried Brie is to die for just like thier tiramisu. Their service as warm as i could ask for. Loved the vibe..The quiet by the window. Gave me just exactly what I came looking for - A marvellous time. I went for dinner every night for the entirety of three days of my trip and the beautiful fact that they remembered me and made me feel so precious. I'm so sorry I never got any of your names but I actually favourited your location so I can always come back to. Thank you❤️. I don't know if you get told this enough.”
