Customer Review Summary
Diners most often return for the carvery itself, with beef, turkey, gammon and pork, juicy and well cooked, alongside soft vegetables and a choice of potato types. Close behind is the giant Yorkshire pudding, which one reviewer rates above any other, and the apple pie with hot custard, while desserts in general are well enjoyed. Staff draw steady praise as pleasant, polite and quick to respond, and one gluten intolerant diner was handed an allergen guide. The caveats are mostly about execution. A messy carvery area with low trays, even though fresh food sat behind, drew comment from the queue, and a couple of items ran out on a busy day. The breakfast fares worst: one reviewer found flat, hard Yorkshires, lumpy gravy, dry sausages and burnt toast, with no staff at the bar for about 20 minutes. Another reported black pudding missing from the buffet and Yorkshire puddings failing twice. One reviewer left a flat verdict of average food, and another noted a grimy candle lamp on the window ledge. A campervan overnight stay in the car park was arranged without any trouble.

“Staff amazing. Food was tasty. How every very disappointed on the carvery area . Very messy . Food was low but there was clearly fresh food behind. Need to focus on this. Every one who was waiting in the que was saying this . Plenty of staff to help behind this area . Shame really .”

“I will give a 3* for the fact I had the breakfast today on Sunday which normally has black pudding... the black pudding was not generally available, I had to ask for it to be ordered to which the lady presented 4 after about 5 or 10 mins which was great but friends wanted some and they still provided none to the buffet table. Also being in Yorkshire your speciality being Yorkshire puddings and the person doing them failed twice to make it work... kinda sad. Otherwise staff are nice. Just an average toby.”

“The food was perfectly cooked to say it was extremely hot in there I could only imagine being one of the chefs. The meats was well cooked juicy and very tasty. The veggies was cooked throughout and soft as expected and the carrots just had a tad crunch but again I do like them that way anyhow. The service team was polite and pleasant and fast to respond to anything asked of them.”

“Food good (carvery) staff really pleasant. Cost was reasonable. The only gripe was on the window ledge where we were sitting was a candle lamp and it looked like it hadn't been moved and cleaned for years!”

“I went a little while ago with some friends to have a carvery. I’m gluten intolerant and they were all very kind and helpful and made sure to hand me an allergen guide so I knew what parts of the carvery were safe. Big Tom was lovely :) There was another lady serving - blonde and maybe in her forties - who was also really lovely and made sure we had everything we need. I will be back!”
