Customer Review Summary
Home cooked food is what reviewers return to most at this village pub, with the battered haddock, chips and mushy peas described as delicious and cooked to perfection, and the surf and turf called lovely. Sunday lunch gets repeated praise from walkers on the Yorkshire Wolds Way and from a large party seated in the conservatory, one of whom called it decent value. Close behind is the welcome: reviewers describe friendly staff, a chatty server, and prompt service, along with an open fire or wood burner that makes the place feel homely. Ample parking, benches out front and dog friendliness come up as extras. The caveats are specific. One diner found the pork a bit tough and the shared veg modest, another said the food took a while because it was cooked fresh, and one unhappy visit described a greasy Kiev, onion rings with little flavour, mostly black chips and tiny starters. Several others, though, say food arrived quickly, and one mentions a beer festival the following weekend.

“Just excellent all round! Easy to book through a phone call, greeted with a smile and shown to our table. There were 6 of us. The food is all home cooked and very nice. Service was really good and good value for money.”

“Great afternoon at The Gait Inn @ Millington, very welcoming local village pub, lovely warm welcome by Martha, such a lovely chatty young lady, very deserving of the tip we left for her. Delicious home cooked food, looking forward to the beer festival next weekend (11th July) before we return home. Great experience all around”

“I’m sorry to say we must have caught it on a bad day. The food was rubbish, starters were tiny not worth £8 the mains we had Kiev swimming in grease so were the onions ring not much flavour chips were mainly black very disappointing won’t be going back.”
