  “Found this pub online so had to pay a visit Located just off the shambles in york so easy to find. The inside is cosy with a viking look. The upstairs are dark and plenty seating areas . Good atmosphere while we were there . Vodka and coke price was approx £8.50 for a double and mixer (2026)”

  “Walking in, it immediately puts a smile on your face, with the decor and atmosphere. I was a little concerned about the rock music, as I thought it my be overwhelming, but it was to an agreeable volume. The staff were excellent, friendly and explained everything that needed to be explained, recommending a good beer. The thor platter and chips arrived, and was really good. The ey up cheese is the star of the show, it is stunning. Go with an open mind, and enjoy as we did.”

  “Was in York on Holiday a few weeks back and had to try Valhala, actually returned several time, enjoyed several pints and Mead, also tried the food which was top notch. The atmosphere was great, service faultless, all in well worth a visit, I know I will return when next in York.”

  “Stumbled in just after it opened in the a.m. and what a find. A wonderful two-floor pub that looks like it's stood for a thousand years — you genuinely feel transported back to around 900 AD the moment you step inside. The interior design is full of atmosphere, with a marvellous fireplace on the first floor that's worth the visit alone. Being early meant we could take in every detail without the crowds. Great selection of local ales and proper traditional mead, too. Absolutely wonderful — we'll be back.”

  “The family and I ate at Valhalla back in April, and it was absolutely superb. Cracking pub, full of history. Unreal selection of beers, hand-pulled, cask and bottled, as well as wines and drinks for the kids. We sat upstairs and ate from almost a Yorkshire tapas menu. The food arrived quickly and was lovely. Valhalla is a proper pub, reflective of everything good about York. Will definitely go back and have recommended far and wide, along with some colleagues from America, who absolutely loved it.”

  “If your in York this a pub not to miss, We had some beers in here which were very nice staff let us try some and talked us through what we might like the atmosphere was also brilliant, we went back in the next day to try the mead and it did …”

  “So glad we tried this place after reading reviews and we were NOT disappointed. This was as good food. Chicken wings tender,sausage in honey mustard amazing rack of ribs was good, fries great, coselaw great, meatballs I didnt get chance to taste as my wife ate them all, hollum fries good . This was 35 quid and was easy enough food for 2 . We were both full. Plenty of beers to choose from. Great staff. Will be back defo”

  “A excellent place to go if you are in York. The pub is over three floors with the all fathers hall on the top floor. Excellent selection of drinks with amazing food. If you want to try mead or a good ale it's the place to go. Viking themed and does not disappoint.”
