About Shaho’s Kebab

Kebabs at Shaho's Kebab are grilled over an open charcoal fire in full view of customers, so anyone ordering at this kebab shop on Staveley Road in Wolverhampton can watch the grill work. Lamb sits alongside liver, kidney, heart, chicken and kiyma on the menu, and the meat is halal. Wraps arrive with bread and salad, with tea and ayran to drink. The operation runs mainly as a takeaway for eating off site, and a small upstairs seating area holds a limited number of customers. There is no booking, so orders go through the counter as people arrive, and the doors open daily. A step-free entrance means visitors with mobility needs can get in without help, and high chairs are kept for families with young children.

Customer Review Summary

Lamb kebabs cooked over open coals in full view of the counter dominate what reviewers describe, with several calling them the best they have had in the UK and one weekend regular admitting to being too addicted to the lamb to try anything else. Close behind, the charcoal smell that hits on the way through the door draws repeated mention, along with soft, chewy bread and fresh salad. Others point to the wider grill list, liver, kidney, heart, chicken and kiyma, and one singles out the ayran, another the tea. Staff come across as friendly and welcoming in most accounts, with one visitor noting he was treated like a regular, and portions are called generous, including by a parent whose fussy children ate happily. The recurring caveat is space: dine-in seating is limited to a small upstairs area that one reviewer says fills fast, leaving takeaway the usual route. One visitor liked a wrap enough to buy a second for the hotel.

You have to try this place! I’ve never had a kebab like this in the UK—so full of flavor, and just too good. Seriously, you need to go check it out

The lamb kebabs are very tasty, fresh meat cooked in front of you over coals, the smell of the sizzling meat gets you salivating before you’ve even taken a bite. The bread is soft & chewy and the salad is fresh. We’d like to try the other menu options but we’re addicted to the lamb! Staff are very friendly & polite, we always look forward to our weekend kebab.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) If you are a kebab connoisseur, stop what you’re doing and get to Shaho’s. I don’t say this lightly: this might actually be the best kebab I have ever had in my life. For context, I’ve tried the heavy hitters, including the infamous Kebab Yasin in Erbil—a place often cited as the gold standard. Honestly? Shaho’s takes the crown. Here is why this spot is an absolute game-changer for the Wolverhampton food scene: The Meat & The Craft This isn't your standard "mystery meat" elephant leg. We are talking real, high-quality meat prepared with authentic technique. Live Cooking: Everything is cooked right in front of you. There’s no hiding behind a kitchen wall; you see the flames, the fresh prep, and the mastery of the grill. The Flavor: It’s epic. The char, the seasoning, and the tenderness of the meat are miles ahead of any local competitor. Value & Service In a world where prices seem to be climbing every week, Shaho’s is refreshingly cheap. You get a premium, authentic meal for a fraction of what you’d expect to pay for this level of quality. The Staff: The team here is fantastic. They’re welcoming, efficient, and clearly take pride in what they’re serving. It gives the place a great community energy. The Vibe Takeaway Kings: This is primarily a takeaway spot, and they’ve nailed that experience. Seating: If you’re planning to dine in, just be aware that seating is very limited. There’s a small area upstairs, but it fills up fast. If you can snag a spot, great—if not, it’s well worth the walk back to the car or home to tuck in. Final Verdict: Shaho’s is a masterclass in Kurdish/Middle Eastern grilling. It’s humble, honest, and undeniably delicious. Whether you’re a local or just passing through the West Midlands, you owe it to your tastebuds to eat here. You must try this place in order to understand what Gold Standard means! Well done to all those hard working chaps in there, smashing! It's also halal.

How this listing is sourced

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
