Customer Review Summary
Abula is the dish reviewers name most, praised for generous portions of meat, though one says it took almost an hour to arrive. Close behind are the soups: okra and seafood soup, oha soup, nkwobi and catfish pepper soup, with jollof rice and grilled chicken also liked. The beef suya drew a mixed verdict, one reviewer finding it lacked punch and depth of flavor. The complaints are specific. Slow service at busy times recurs, and the lowest ratings describe a delivered oha and yellow garri order that arrived cold in poor packaging, plus jollof rice and beef that were not properly cooked and refund calls that went unreturned. Reviewers also call the ambience great and the room quiet. Families mention taking leftovers home and playing games and ludo while waiting for their order.

“⭐ 1/5 — Extremely disappointing experience at Eko 77 Nigerian Restaurant I paid £17 for just two pieces of beef and jollof rice. Unfortunately, the rice was not properly cooked and the beef was also not properly cooked, so I could not properly eat the food. When I called to complain, the man on the phone was extremely rude. I was repeatedly told that the manager would contact me, but nobody got back to me despite me calling several times. Eventually, I was told to come to the restaurant to collect my refund. When I arrived, the boss/manager was shouting at me and speaking to me aggressively instead of dealing with my complaint professionally. What shocked me most was that he told me that if I have my own food business, he would find it and leave a bad review for me because I had complained about my food. I found this completely inappropriate and intimidating. £17 for two pieces of beef and jollof rice that were not properly cooked is simply unacceptable. I am sharing my experience because local people in Wolverhampton deserve to know about my experience. Customers should be able to raise genuine concerns about food quality without being shouted at or threatened with retaliation. I will also be reporting my food-safety concerns to Wolverhampton Council’s food safety/environmental health team so that the appropriate authorities can look into the matter. Very poor food, very poor customer service, and an experience I will not forget. I will not be returning.”

“Nice African restaurant! Ambience is great but service can be quite slow! Food is good and fairly priced. Faster service during peak periods will make it nicer.”

“They have become my go-to place for Nigerian food whenever I am in the Birmingham or Wolverhampton areas. I have had a few of their meals, from the nkwobi, oha soup, catfish pepper soup, etc., and each meal has not disappointed. Really tastes good, portions good, service good.”

“I went there last week for the first time and couldn’t stop thinking about the food and the whole ambiance, guess what? I went there again for the secound time and I spend almost all evening there playing ludo, taking pictures and of course eating my favourite (Abula)🤭😋”

“I had Abula, though it took almost an hr for it to get ready, but it was definitely worth the waiting. As I enjoyed every taste and the meats were very generous in portion, enjoyed every bite.”
