Customer Review Summary

The full English breakfast is what most diners return to, described as generous, made with good quality ingredients, and the best one reviewer has had in a long time. Close behind are a club sandwich served with a huge salad and wedges, the avocado smash, a vegetarian breakfast of egg, sausage, hashbrown and mushrooms, and the carrot cake. The coffee is called smooth and not bitter, and one reviewer who avoids coffee praises the hot chocolates. Families mention the mini afternoon tea for children, called putting on the ritz, and an Easter colouring competition, while another reviewer booked afternoon tea for a mother's birthday. Staff and the host are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, and one pre-booked table had food served almost straight away. The main complaint is parking: on one visit the area by the shop was full and the reviewer had to park on the side road. Another finds the breakfast comforting but not mind-blowing. One reviewer who lost a loyalty card had the owner make a replacement.

“Me and my friend used to go here all the time a couple years ago before we moved! The staff are always lovely and kind, the atmosphere is very calm and chill for a morning and it’s always a great experience there! The staff are the real stars behind this place. Food is only 4/5 as it’s nice and comforting breakfast food but it isn’t mind-blowing, however you can’t fault classic english staples. The drinks are always great, as someone who doesn’t drink coffee, their hot chocolates are amazing! The atmosphere is ONLY a 4/5 because of one strange interaction with another customer. I will say for young people it seems like an adult / elders calming space so my friend and I never really saw anyone our age there (they were probably all at school / college during opening times that does keep the calm atmosphere). I noticed an older couple had been looking at me, an elder lady asked ‘Are you not cold?’, I was wearing a yarn top with an open back and I guess it have been cold that day. I had my coat with me so I didn’t realise. I think she realised afterwards that I was uncomfortable though they did create more conversation afterwards. It’s funny I think that’s the last time I went there! I’m sure they still do their loyalty cards too at Vanilla, I remember I had lost mine and the owner kindly replicated one for me :) it was nice being remembered! There was also a hard working diva who worked there when I used to go, she had a curly pixie cut and blue eyeliner! I hope they are both well and thriving!”

“A very nice place, good decent breakfast, lovely coffee. The only draw back is the parking, this is the second time I've been here now and this time the parking area by the shop was full! Had to park round the side on the road. That being said, I Will be definitely be back and would recommend for a visit. Update 6/6/26 Haven't been here for a while and not sure why! Came for lunch and had a club sandwich. It was absolutely fantastic! You would think that it's easy to do a club sandwich, but so many places absolutely ruin it, especially when they marinate the chicken! Not here, it was perfect! Can with a huge salad (not too much onion) and wedges! The plate was massive! Also the coffee was excellent! Very smooth, not bitter and doesn't repeat on you! This is now on the list of places I will be back to on a regular basis!”
