About Ghales
Ghales is a cafe in Wolverhampton, at 21 Finchfield Rd W, with a menu of 20 dishes. Breakfast takes up much of it, from cooked plates of bacon, sausages and eggs, including the Full English, to Eggs Benedict. Avocado appears in two forms: on toast with eggs, and inside the Veggie Breakfast, an adapted version of the cooked plate. Coffee and tea are served throughout. Cakes sit on the counter to choose from, to have alongside a hot drink.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the breakfasts, with Eggs Benedict and the Full Monty praised for lovely hollandaise, thick bacon and well-flavoured sausages, and a veggie breakfast adapted with avocado, onions and stuffing called a generous portion. Close behind is the cheese on toast with chips and a sweet chilli dip, plus the choice of cakes and the coffee. Several describe friendly staff, including a waitress who knew basic sign language and a server who offered takeaway cups for unfinished tea. Price is the recurring complaint. One reviewer found the dhal and chickpea curry portions small, with only a few mouthfuls of dhal and rice, and said the owner offered no apology. Another found a full English poor, with hard black pudding, tough bacon, hard yolks with runny whites, and no reply on those points. A third called a sandwich with egg too expensive for ordinary bread and bacon, and noted that cups and plates stayed on the table for twenty minutes. Two reviewers also describe cold or unfriendly front-of-house staff. One happy customer wished for a second slice of toast with the eggs and avocado.

“While Ghales' atmosphere is always calm and somewhat pleasant and food and drinks are served to a great standard, I believe that some of the front-of-house staff may have forgotten the importance of good customer service. As someone who works within the hospitality industry and has for some time, ensuring that customers feel welcomed and constantly reassured from the minute they walk through the door to when they leave should be a top priority. While I empathise with the fact that staff may work long hours and feel tired from balancing multiple tasks at once, delivering a smile is the absolute bare minimum a customer should receive in any circumstance. However, on every occasion in which I have visited this café, it has been fairly quiet which has led me to acknowledge that staff do not wish to make an effort to be polite, potentially dissuading customers from visiting again. These sensations of feeling unwelcome, uncomfortable, and disrespected, despite the financial contributions that I have recently paid as a customer, are further amplified by a cold tone of voice and condescending attitude. While this disposition does not border on an unacceptable level, I can clearly understand why some reviews describe how shocking it is to experience such a disregard in comparison to similar local establishments. Of course, excellent food and beverage quality and hygiene standards are crucial but customers should be at the center of everything you do. All in all, I hope that this review serves as a reminder for staff to behave in a way that exudes positive, respectful and attentive energy to all customers instead of making them feel like you want them to leave as soon as they enter. :)”

“Black pudding was over cooked and hard. Bacon was tuff. Eggs were very bellow standard. Yolks were pretty much hard. Egg had some of the whites still runny to top it off there was abit of shell in it. Was very disappointed considering the price. Thanks for responding. Unfortunately you can’t reply only edit so please see below. Yes it’s pretty impressive to have hard yolks yet gloopy egg whites but some how you managed it. I also notice you haven’t addressed the egg shell or over cooked bacon and black pudding. We didn’t complain as wasn’t worth the hassle. Honestly the food was of a similar or less standard as you would expect of a Morrisons caffe which makes sense when you pay £3 for a full English. Highly disappointed.”

“Absolutely loved this cafe. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing, the staff were genuinely friendly and attentive, and the food and coffee were both exceptional. Everything was fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. You can really tell a lot of care goes into every detail here. Easily one of the nicest cafes I’ve visited and I’ll definitely be coming back again soon”

“It was my first time at Ghales. I was really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food as I had never been here before. The portion size was generous and the staff were really friendly. There were so many nice cakes to choose from, that I even requested to order all whole cake for my son's birthday party. I might make this place a weekly treat.”
