About Penny's Cafe
Penny's Cafe is a cafe in Wolverhampton, at 566 Penn Rd, where the Black Country Breakfast, also called the Black Country special, anchors the menu. The plate comes with back pudding and fried bread, and the kitchen cooks it fresh to order. Other full breakfasts bring together sausages, bacon, eggs and mushrooms. For something lighter, there are sausage and bacon sandwiches and sausage and tomato sandwiches. A small team of women serves and cooks, working alongside a young chef.

Customer Review Summary
The Black Country breakfast is what reviewers return to most, and one regular makes it a Friday habit. Diners praise the bacon with very little fat, eggs with runny yolks and firm whites, sausages said to come from a butcher, and good fried bread. A takeaway sausage and bacon sandwich is called the tastiest one reviewer has had in a while. Several describe the women serving as welcoming and pleasant, and one reviewer notes it gets busy and suggests booking ahead. Complaints are fewer but specific. One visitor found the staff miserable and said requests for red sauce and crusty bread were ignored. Another had an order taken wrongly, a muddled bill, a watered down sauce, bland sausage and bacon like cardboard. A more positive breakfast still came with a thin, small black pudding and weak coffee, though staff added extra to the cup. Another reviewer recalls the cook offering a replacement when mushrooms were declined.

“Went in this morning for a breakfast and a sausage and tomato sandwich. The sandwich was served and it had been cut with a knife that had previously been used for cutting something with egg on. Cross contamination at its best, egg yolk all over the cut edge from the knife, good job im not allergic. My wife's breakfast was nice, but we won't be returning anytime soon.”
