  “the restaurant is lovely, however, a particular staff member (Ruby, if memory serves me right) is quite rude. Had ruined mine and my husband's entire night, even when we asked for the bill she demanded a tip despite giving me dirty looks and telling my husband he could "do better" right in front of me?? he also mentioned feeling quite uncomfortable while i went to the restroom. lovely food, less than desirable experience.”

  “We had a lovely Sunday roast at The Barn. Food was lovely as always. Staff attentive and a friendly warm atmosphere. To top it off they had a competition running that if you roll the dice and you roll a 6, dinner is paid for! Hubby rolled a 6 so as well as everything being perfect we didn’t have to pay a penny! Thankyou guys for a lovely dinner!”

  “First visit to the Barn today and we really enjoyed it. Fantastic Sunday Roast with a great choice of meats/veg all cooked perfectly. Service was excellent, the team were really attentive and despite being busy there were no delays at all. Will definitely come back to this hidden local gem.”

  “Food was excellent, good choice of drinks including ales, wines & spirits. Advise booking as when we arrived it was quite busy & popular with families. Seen at least 2 groups for seating around 10 people. All in all very good service & ambience.”

  “Our first visit- good job we had booked and it was full. The staff were genuinely helpful and friendly and bearing in mind how busy it was there was no delay with either the food or drink being served. The bill came to £90 for two of us - this included a tip, 2 starters, 2 mains, a desert, soft drink, pint of a very good larger and a large glass of wine . I don’t think you can fault the value for money , but sadly for us each course was not quite a 5 star standard. I felt I only had half a portion of whitebait as my starter as it was served in a half pint glass which was half filled with lettuce before putting the whitebait on top . My wife’s starter was completely the opposite - 3 lovely sized chicken tenders cooked to perfection with the most delicious homemade bbq sauce. My pork steak was cooked to perfection, fresh and tasty- served with chips and coleslaw, however the coleslaw was very mushy and served warm which I found most strange. Wife had salmon served with new potatoes and salad, which contained onion even though we asked for no onions. Lastly my wife’s apple crumble had a good flavour but there was hardly any crumble and the whole dish was swamped in custard. Overall we would visit again if we were in the area, with a few adjustments it could be a very high 5 star dining experience for the price paid.”

  “Absolutely delicious meal Saturday night! The best by far in a very long time. Service was a* and couldn’t fault a thing. Flat iron steak on a lava rock and peanut butter stack will 100% make me return. So tasty!!”

  “Tonight was a meal out to celebrate my fiancées birthday, and having heard so much about this restaurant and their outdoor dining pods, it made sense to book a meal there. We received a lovely warm welcome from Megan, who was to be looking after us for this visit, and then shown to our pod, where she had already put the heater on so it was lovely and warm when we entered. We ordered our drinks and then looked through the menu whilst waiting for them to arrive. When our drinks arrived, we gave Megan our order and for starters I ordered chicken strips coated in the Barns own seasoning with their home made barbecue sauce and, my better half ordered halloumi in the Barns own seasoning and chilli jam. We both then ordered the 10 oz ribeye steak to be cooked medium to well done. As an extra, I ordered the peppercorn sauce to go with mine. The starters arrived quickly and looked so good that it was a shame to eat them. Having had the starters, the main course arrived, and we were not disappointed. The steak was so tender it just melted when you ate it, there wasn't an ounce of fat on it, and it was cooked perfectly. After 2 courses, there wasn't a single thing I could fault. Next were the deserts which we had chosen from the menu, but when Megan came back to see us, she had a list of specials that she read out. This made us change our minds, and in the end, we ordered the Double Decker cookie dough with custard and the Kinder Bueno mousse in half an Easter egg with cream. These were definitely the right choices; they were the best. During our meal, we had a couple of glasses of wine, a shandy and coffee, and spent just under 2 hours there. The food was phenomenal, the service was exceptional, the atmosphere was fantastic, and a birthday girl was very happy. It wasn't the cheapest restaurant I've been to but, you do get what you pay for and if you don't believe me, take a trip to the Barn, Terrington St John, you will not be disappointed.”
