Quick info
About giardini di NAXOS
Giardini di Naxos is an Italian restaurant on High Street in Downham Market, set in a small, decorated dining room that extends outdoors to a garden seating area. The menu centres on homemade pasta, with daily specials adding seafood to the board, and finishes on classic Italian lines with panna cotta among the desserts. The room seats a limited number of guests, giving it a compact feel throughout service. Tables are taken for lunch and dinner, and the kitchen prepares each dish to order. Garden seating is in use when the weather allows, extending the dining space beyond the interior.

“Food is reasonable if slightly overpriced for what it is with the bread being a highlight and some of the ingredients are clearly fresh and high quality. The service however is diabolical. As a 40 year old who's done a lot of travelling, I've never had such awful service. Server made us feel like we were just pissing them off by simply existing. We're just a party of 2 who love Italian food and have no allergies. Waiter visibly rolled their eyes and sighed when we asked for a bit longer to view the menu, which we only got after having to ask as it wasn't given within 10 minutes of being seated. Restaurant is nicely decorated, but very cramped. Appreciate they need as many covers as possible but it didn't feel like an intimate dinner... Felt like sardines in a tin and rushed. I live in Downham Market and this is the only Mediterranean for a 20 mile radius (other than chains like Prezzos which I don't count). As a lover of Italian cuisine it breaks my heart than this place is like it is as is has real potential... I'd be here at least once a month if the restaurant was better laid out (more space), food quality was slightly improved (or if it was cheaper) and the service was ripped up and totally redone. Actually is still probably consider going back every now and then if just the service was significantly improved. Why people would ever go back when the servers are this rude is beyond me. Get the impression that the owner thinks this place is, or they're aspiring to be, some upmarket, luxury, small and intimate authentic Italian restaurant - but it really isn't. It's an Italian restaurant with good food but with awful service and an atmosphere of snobbery. The chef is carrying this place!”

“We always go there for a special evening meal...it never fails to satisfy. Great food, lovely wines and terrific service every time.”

“Had a wonderful meal there last Friday to celebrate a birthday. 4 people with clean plates on all 3 courses. Menu is not too large to create confusion but wide enough for great variety. Panna cotta amazing. Can't wait to come back”

“Randomly stopped here for some lunch with my mum for a treat, and was genuinely blown away by not only the unreal quality of every dish ordered and put in front of me, but by the attention to detail in service as well that is usually seen in ridiculously priced restaurants. Will be recommending here without hesitation.”
