Quick info
About Tapios
Tapios is a tapas bar in Windermere, found at 43 Crescent Rd, serving traditional small plates alongside Spanish beers. The meal for two comes in veggie or meat versions, with several starters including pitta, so a pair can order one set meal instead of choosing dish by dish. Patatas bravas sit among the small plates, and the tapas also include meatballs. Sangria is served by the jug, with raspberry and other flavours to choose from. Dishes arrive as they are ready, in no set order. Walk-ins are seated without a booking, and tables can also be booked. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Sangria draws the most mentions, from the raspberry version to a jug of it, with one reviewer calling the options fun and quite strong. Close behind are the chicken with leek and mushrooms in a cream sauce and the patatas bravas, followed by the cheesy mushrooms, tempura prawn and beef. Several praise the meal for two, offered in meat or veggie versions, for its generous portions and good value. Reviewers repeatedly describe friendly, quick staff, and walk-ins without a booking were often seated promptly, including outside with a dog. The criticism is sharper but rarer. One diner found the mussels and prawns not fresh, the bread cold and the prawns and chorizo skimpy on chorizo, noted that lamb and beef dishes had run out early on a Tuesday evening, and called the hummus and tzatziki far from Spanish. Another felt ignored by a head shake at the door and ate at the Italian across the road. A third could not add a tip to a card payment. Several note dishes arriving as soon as they were ready.

“When you have potential customers who walk into your restaurant, always talk to them. Make them feel welcome, without shaking your head. Yes we knew you were busy, that's a great sign. However, talk to us. We could have returned tomorrow.Maybe we could have waited for twenty minutes. Instead, we walked over the road to the Italian!!!”

“No booking, just walked up on the off-chance. Seated outside with our dog, we didn't have long to wait as the staff were on it straight away. The meal for two comes in either veggie or meat...we chose meat and the starters were 4 dishes, with pitta and it was very tasty. The pause in between courses was just perfect, then the main players, chicken with wine, leek and mushroom was gorgeous, as were the patatas bravas, the beef and meatballs were super tasty too. Very friendly, busy street and just a very nice little tapas bar. I would highly recommend Tapios, price wise it's not bad either. 10/10”

“Three of us had lovely tapas - we shared almost all the vegetarian choices and weren't disappointed. Food was tasty, portions good - the mushrooms were particularly delicious. The sangria options were fun - and quite strong - and service was friendly. The only disappointment was that they were unable to add a tip to the card payment and we didn't have cash.”

“Have been here twice now and would struggle to fault the place. First and foremost - the food is first rate. Each time all the dishes we had were excellent. Particularly enjoyed the tempura prawn and the beef tonight. Service is informal and friendly, no fuss or ceremony, just great food served quickly. Very good value overall, 6 dishes and 2 pints for £70 .”
