About Wimborne Tandoori
Wimborne Tandoori is an Indian restaurant at 2 Leigh Rd in Wimborne, and it has been running since 1981, which makes it the oldest Indian restaurant in town. The kitchen cooks traditional Bengali recipes alongside modern Indian dishes, and the chefs can adjust a dish to the diner's taste. The menu is extensive, with a wide choice of dishes to pick from. The frontage is narrow, but the dining room inside is large. The restaurant is open daily, evenings only. There is no on-site parking, so drivers leave the car elsewhere and walk a few minutes.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly, attentive service is what reviewers raise most, with staff described as polite, knowledgeable and pleasant, and food arriving fast and hot even for a large order. Close behind is the menu, which one reviewer says has something for every taste. Diners name a tame, tasty dopiaza, lamb tikka, a veggie Locknow and butter vegetables with good flavour and fresh vegetables. Another praises exactly the right amount of spice, and one regular orders delivery most weekends. Two reviewers call value for money good. The criticism comes from two low reviews. One takeaway was tasty but had barely any meat, was mostly sauce, and was not enough to feed two. Another reviewer found the food average for the money, the portions insufficient, the staff not really welcoming, and the taste more Bangladeshi than Indian. For dining in, one reviewer describes hot towels and orange segments after the meal, while another notes the hot towels have been replaced by a microwaved pocket tissue.

“First time visit last night, given up on any Indian Restaurants in Poole/Bournemouth. Friendly staff, good food, couldn't complain about anything. Due to location you need to park elsewhere but only a few minutes walk but not an issue when service and food was as good as it was. Absolutely our new go to Restaurant when we want to eat at an Indian Restaurant.”

“Very, very disappointing take away. The food was tasty enough but there was barely any meat in the dishes. It was mostly sauce. We bought dishes to share and there wasn’t enough to feed two people.”

“Enjoyed our dinner here. We had butter vegetables, which was nice, good flavour and a decent selection of fresh vegetables. Staff were very pleasant and value for money was good.”
