About I-Fry
On Front St in Whitley Bay, I-Fry is a fish & chips restaurant at number 102. The menu centres on Fish N Chips, and the fish and chips can come with mushy peas on the side. Chips can also be ordered with curry sauce, so a plate of chips can stand on its own. The kitchen fries more than fish, and the battered range extends beyond the main dish. A cowboy special that includes a burger rounds out the choices.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers mostly describe chips as the letdown at I-Fry, reporting them burnt, black, grey and lumpy, rock hard, or apparently re-fried, with several saying the chips went straight in the bin. Sausage is the next most named item, described as dripping grease, with one reviewer finding a hair in the batter. Fish, fish bites and nuggets draw complaints too, from batter that was not hot enough to nuggets called vile, and mushy peas and curry sauce are called watery and powdery. One reviewer says a cowboy special came with a spam fritter instead of a burger and that the bill was higher than the quoted price for a small sausage, chips and curry. One reviewer reports stomach illness after a fish and chips meal, and another says they checked the hygiene rating after seeing the food. A few praise the lady serving as lovely, and one reviewer calls the food freshly cooked and cheap compared with others. Another says they walked out after seeing grey chips being dished.

“Ordered from here a few times in the past and never had an issue until tonight. Chips tasted like they had been re-fried as half tasted burnt and dry, they certainly didn’t taste fresh even though we waited for the food to get cooked or reheated. Code bites were mainly batter and again didn’t taste as fresh as we have normally had from there. Unfortunately most went in the bin. I really hope they sort themselves out as it’s such a shame.”

“Had fish and chips with mushy peas from i-fry last night, fish wasn’t great, the box was wet in the bottom from the grease, the mushy peas were watery and the chips weren’t anything special. To make things worse I’ve hardly been able to get off the loo all day… be REALLY careful when eating from i-fry”
