About Edge Restaurant
Edge Restaurant is a family-run cafe in Weymouth, on St Thomas St, now trading as the Bridge House Coffee shop with more of a cake and coffee focus and no more breakfasts. Dogs are welcome, and each one gets a bowl of water and a separate bowl of sausage and biscuits. Cakes are on offer, along with cream teas of scones, cream and jam. Inside, the team brings orders to the table, and payment is made at the counter. The kitchen is small, so staff ask about allergies and say they cannot guarantee against cross contamination. The cafe opens daytime only, Tuesday to Saturday, and is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the free sausage and biscuits given to dogs, alongside a bowl of water, with several calling the place very dog friendly. Breakfast is close behind, including a mushroom and spinach Benedict served on bubble and squeak, a huge breakfast and a burger. A chicken burger dinner, a peach iced tea, and cream teas with warm, fresh scones, jam and cream also draw mentions, and the staff are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming. One reviewer says the kitchen is very small and cannot guarantee against cross contamination, but is upfront about it and asks clarifying questions about allergies. The recurring complaint is a change of direction. Two reviewers report that breakfasts have been dropped after a rebrand, leaving a limited menu and more of a cake and coffee shop. One of them found the place empty and describes an employee rolling her eyes when asked about the change, and left without eating. The other still found the food as good as ever, but missed the breakfasts.

“We have enjoyed a breakfast and friendly service at The Edge on several occasions when we have visited Weymouth, the staff have always been welcoming and friendly and even bought some treats for our dog , we did visit on Saturday 9th May and it’s with great regret that I find myself writing this review , we went for breakfast as we have done on previous visits but we noticed the layout has changed and there was no mention of breakfasts on the limited menu , when we asked about this the young lady with long hair she said they no longer serve breakfast she said they have had a rebrand , I asked if it was same owners and she replied yes same owners but then looked at another employee and rolled her eyes , I was not impressed and we left , when we arrived the place was empty , on previous visits it’s not always been easy to find a vacant table but the wait for one was always worth it , I’m not sure why they have decided to reduce things so drastically but in my opinion it’s a big mistake, maybe what was previously offered was no longer sustainable but having a limited menu and an employee who rolls there eyes when a simple question is asked does not inspire me to return again , such a pity that this establishment has gone the way it has , it’s sad to see 😔😔”

“A family run business. I would recommend the mushroom and spinach Benedict which is served on a bed of Bubble and Squeak. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you sit inside it is table service, if you sit outside you order at the counter and in both cases you pay at the counter. I shall definitely be returning! Please note they are closed Sundays and Mondays. Update: Today I had Bubble & Squeak, bacon, poached eggs and cherry tomatoes. It was just as good as the mushroom and spinach Benedict I had on my last visit. Definitely one of my two favourite cafés in Weymouth! UPDATE: 21 March 2026 Back again and having the mushroom and spinach Benedict with a cappuccino again. No Lucy or Lulu this time but the new staff seem ok. Food was as good as ever but has now changed to the Bridge House Coffee shop and is now more of a cake and coffee shop. ☹️ No more breakfasts! 😥”

“This little café is a real find - no easy task as it was buried under scaffolding at the time of our visit. The interior is warm, welcoming and unpretentious - just like the friendly and helpful staff. The menu is extensive and varied and doesn't even include everything on offer - see the selection of cakes. And it's all home cooked like mum used to make. If you're in Weymouth, a visit is a must but please keep it a secret - we wouldn't want to see it inundated!”

“We had an amazing breakfast on Wednesday, staff were lovely and so friendly, really nice atmosphere, our dog loved their free sausage. Will definitely go in again when back in Weymouth.”

“I Came down with my family the other day and was very impressed with this small breakfast place. I had a burger which was fantastic and the peach ice tea was amazing as well. Food was outstanding in general. All of the staff were very friendly and polite; couldn't have asked for better service. VERY VERY dog friendly, we were even given free sausages and biscuits for my dogs which I thought was very kind . Would highly recommend and we will be back soon!!”
