Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the setting, with countryside views, the garden and a playground for young kids, plus a woodfire smell and Halloween decorations that one visitor found cozy. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, and one reviewer says a server was apologetic and kept them updated during a long delay. Food opinions split. Praise goes to a Sunday roast, a cheesecake, a lasagna that suited an egg allergy, and a brownie ice cream sundae, along with mocktails and strawberry lemonade. The recurring complaint is slow, disappointing food. One table waited over an hour and got a multi grain salad that was mostly lettuce, while another reports a roast missing stuffing and cauliflower cheese, with burnt pigs in blankets and cold potatoes. A group of six found portions small for the price, with a burger arriving without its onion rings and an eton mess described as mostly cream. One chef reviewer says the roast potatoes tasted frozen. One diner was rushed to order because the kitchen was closing earlier than the website said, and the crumble was no longer available.

“10/10/26 - me and my dad came here for the FIRST EVER TIME for a drink and shared some crisps. The setting is lovely , reminds me of a Norfolk countryside setting , I loved the smell of the woodfire especially as it was dark , it made me feel cozy. Loved the Halloween decorations. We will definitely return for food someday. Great find.”

“Had such a lovely experience here! The food was absolutely delicious — everything was fresh, beautifully cooked and really enjoyable. 🍽️ What really stood out though was the staff. They were genuinely outstanding — so friendly, polite and helpful from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel really welcome. It’s not often you get great food and such fantastic service, so we’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Half the roast dinner missing. No stuffing no cauliflower cheese as on menu. Same as child’s roast loads missing. Burnt rock solid pigs in blankets. Rock hard freezing cold potatoes. Would give zero star if I could. Staff rude and took about an hour for dinner to come. Would not recommend!!”

“Came here for lunch - three of us in our party. Absolutely stunning location with beautiful views. The pub was nicely decorated and had some good mood lighting. However... We ordered our food (two of them were salad dishes) and it took over an hour for our food to arrive. Our waitress was very apologetic and checked when our food would be ready without us even asking her to; which makes me think this could happen often. But she was very attentive and kept us up to date. She had to chase the kitchen twice for our meals. The two stars I gave for service were for her. Had she not been as great as she was, we would have given 0 stars for service. One person in our party really enjoyed their food, the two of us who ordered salads were very disappointed. A multi grain salad which was 90% lettuce, perhaps a teaspoon of mixed grain, a few unripe tomatoes and a dressing that didn't really taste of anything. We were asked three times how our food was and we dared not ask them to change our food as we didn't want to wait another hour. One person then ordered apple crumble - the menu stated it came with custard and she wasn't given any other option at the time of ordering. This also took a long time to arrive and when it did, it was served with ice cream. By this point, we had been in the restaurant for over two hours and didn't really want to ask them to change it for fear of having to wait another 20 minutes.”
