About Saracens Head
On Bridge Foot in Ware, Saracens Head is a pub set right at the edge of the River Lea, with views of the water. The kitchen serves full meals, and the menu also includes shakes alongside them. Dogs are welcome, so people can bring their pets along when they stop in for a meal or a shake. Because the pub stands directly on the river, diners eat with the River Lea in view.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the riverside setting, calling it beautiful and lovely. One enjoyed a gyros with a Malibu and pineapple, another a hot, smooth coffee at a cozy window seat. Several single out bartenders for good service. Complaints include pricey beers, food that wasn't great, no real ale, and a loud, brash feel, with chopped hot dog on the new menu.

“I’ve been twice - once for lunch and once just for coffee. The first time I was alone and I brought a book to read in the sunshine by the riverside. I had a gyros with a Malibu and pineapple. It was a lovely spot right by the river’s edge. The second time wasn’t quite so sunny and was too breezy to sit outside so I sat at a window seat inside. It was lovely and cozy. The coffee was nice and hot, smooth and tasty. I would visit again if I was in the area.”

“Loud riverside pub, no real ale. Pleasant surroundings but too brash for our taste.”

“Love it 2026 EDIT: Following a recent refurbishment and menu update I can say that this place is now aimed at people just turned 18. Bouncers all over the place, AI playlist, chopped up lumps of hot dog as a dish, squeezed in double the amount of outdoor seating although inly one car park space swallowed up to accommodate. For the first time in my 15 years in Ware I will avoid this place unfortunately only due to the influx of children. Still a good selection of beer but the new menu may as well have a colouring in section for all the new punters! Still, it has a beautiful setting on the river that you can’t get anywhere else 🤷🏻♂️”

“Oh my word. Derec. He has changed my life. I thought I knew good bar service before but wow, it’s like thinking a swimming pool is deep without ever being in the ocean. Derec I will be back ASAP (as soon as possible) for this game changing service. James Silver is a close second, his accurate pint pouring, his good chit-chat. Sublime.”
