Quick info
About Red Lion Welwyn
Red Lion Welwyn is a gastropub in Welwyn Garden City that welcomes dogs and serves them a chicken "doggie lunch", so owners can eat with their pets. The pub opens daily. The kitchen cooks traditional pub food from seasonal menus, and diners can order a full three-course meal. Scallops are on the menu, and the sticky toffee pudding comes with stem ginger ice-cream. A Sunday roast is served at Sunday lunch. The team walks diners through the menu and helps with allergens. The drinks list also includes mocktails.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is the draw reviewers raise most, with diners describing a family of eight, a roast with recommendations from the server, and a Sunday lunch where nobody felt rushed. Close behind is the service, which reviewers repeatedly call attentive, helpful and friendly, including one server who walked a diner through the allergens. The scallops and a sticky toffee pudding with stem ginger ice-cream earn specific praise, and others mention the chicken sandwich, pizza, brownie, clams and mocktails. One reviewer says a chicken lunch was brought out for their dog. The kids' menu pleased one family's children. The main complaints are cost and pace. One reviewer found nearly twenty pounds for fish and chips quite expensive for what it is, another called the meals not the cheapest, and one said drinks came quickly but the meals took quite a while. A diner in a large group notes staff can struggle to reach every table at full capacity, though they still rated the food great and the drinks flowing.

“Came in for lunch, we had chicken sandwich, pizza and brownie for dessert. Brought a chicken doggie lunch for our cockerpoo Dorris who highly recommends this for any doggy. Served by Erika and Alfie who were attentive, polite and very friendly. I would highly recommend this lovely pub !”

“We had a delicious Sunday roast today! We were served by Peeyush, who gave us some fantastic recommendations and made sure we were well looked after throughout our visit. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was warm, attentive and friendly. Peeyush really went above and beyond to make our experience special. We’ll definitely be back! 😊🍽️”

“Our first visit here. Good location and plenty of parking. Well received on our entrance and led to our table. Drinks service was quick but our meals took quite a while to be served. Our waitress, Naomi, was very pleasant and helpful throughout the meal. Not the cheapest of meals but overall the food was good and plenty of choices available. Would certainly come here again.”
