Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the real ale, with a Windsor and Eton Brewery Tap Takeover named alongside a manager described as into his real ale, and pints in fantastic condition at a fantastic price. A Guinness for under four pounds is also praised, so that detail is dropped below. Close behind is friendly, quick service at the bar, and several say the staff were friendly and helpful, including one wheelchair user who says the manager made sure they were catered for. Breakfast on a Sunday morning gets fast, friendly service, and one diner says the food was cooked to perfection and the pub was clean and well maintained, while another had three meals without a complaint from fussy eaters. The complaints are sharper than the count suggests. Two reviewers describe a manager who stayed on a phone while they waited, with one saying their order was repeated three times and a question about a deal was met with eye rolling. Another says a server dumped plates down without a word at brunch, and one calls the scrambled egg on toast like a school rubber.

“The pub is a modern build with no character. I sampled scrambled egg on toast. The egg had the texture and taste of a school rubber from the 1950s. On the positive side, the manager is very enthusiastic about cask ale and regularly has brewery tap take over. The pub is definitely worth visiting for real ales.”

“Absolutely shocking customer service. The manager was rude from the moment we tried to speak to them and seemed far more interested in staying on their phone than helping customers. We were left waiting while they carried on with their call, with no apology or any sign that they cared. It's disappointing when the person who's supposed to be setting the standard for customer service behaves like this. The whole experience left a bad taste, and we certainly won't be returning. There are plenty of other pubs that actually make customers feel welcome.”

“I was very disappointed with the service. The manager was extremely rude and unprofessional. We had to wait while she finished texting on her phone before she even acknowledged us. We told her our order three times, and when we asked what was included in one of the deals, she responded with a rude attitude and kept rolling her eyes, instead of being helpful. Customer service should be polite and respectful, and unfortunately, this experience was the complete opposite. I hope this is addressed so other customers don’t have the same experience.”

“Three meals with drinks. Not one complaint and that takes a lot as my wife and daughter are fussy eaters. Very friendly staff and I would recommend it to everyone.”

“Came in for brunch on 13th June and sat at table 17. The food was nice. The guy who served us our meals had little to no customer service skills and didn't speak one word to us when placing down plates, and instead just dumped them down randomly and walked off without a word and didn't even look up. Made the whole ordeal extremely and unnecessarily awkward.”
