Customer Review Summary

The roast draws the most criticism. One diner found the meat tough, the potatoes undercooked and the lamb bon bons short on flavour, while another called the gravy thin and the potatoes not crispy. Overcooked chicken appeared in a child's portion and in a Caesar salad, and a dry bread and butter pudding was mentioned. One reviewer was disappointed there was no allergen menu, so the manager annotated the regular menu, which took a long time. Even so, the mint sauce and sticky toffee pudding earned praise, and one wedding host called the food insanely good.

“Unfortunately today after having eaten there twice before, we were disappointed with our meal. My Lamb and veg was nicely cooked, the Yorkshires ok, the gravy thin and lacking in flavour, but the potatoes were earthy and weren't crispy at all. I'm not sure they'd seen any oil! The child's portion of chicken was overcooked, dry and difficult to cut. I had bread and butter pudding which was also dry, lacking in the custard base or any flavour and filled with dried apricot, quite an unusual choice. The service is always good and I like the Plough so I'm putting this down to a 'One off'.”

“We come here often after our long dog walks and relax with a pint, but today we came for Sunday lunch. As usual the service is professional and super friendly and efficient. The food was wonderful - we had the Padron peppers and Croquettes followed by the Seabass and Chicken Schnitzel accompanied with a rosè and cold Modelo. Chilled beautiful pub garden with very cool vibes in the sunshine. 🌞 Thank you all..”

“Took my parents out to dinner the day before Father’s Day. Really nice pub with lovely views. Feels really peaceful. Friendly staff. I had a Caesar salad which I usually wouldn’t be a fan of but it was actually really nice. Dad also really enjoyed his food. However, Mum didn’t finish her salad as the chicken was overcooked and a guest next to us was missing the bacon bits which they said made it bland and didn’t finish theirs either. Was disappointed that there was no allergen menu. Manager Nick was helpful and kindly annotated the regular menu for me but that of course took a really long time and would’ve been easier for both of us if there was a set allergen menu. Also, I offered to take my sister a few days later but she refused as there is no nutritional information (specifically calories) listed on the menu either.”

“We had a fantastic Father's Day lunch and drink at The Plough. It was a red hot day, and from the moment we arrived, the service was excellent and the whole team made us feel incredibly welcome. A special mention to T, who was absolutely fantastic and helped make the occasion even more enjoyable. The staff were friendly, attentive, and went beyond the extra mile to ensure everything ran smoothly despite how busy it was. The food was brilliant beautifully cooked, full of flavour, and presented perfectly. Every dish we ordered was excellent and made the meal feel extra special. We also enjoyed the Hawkstone beer, which was a great addition and complemented the food perfectly. We had a wonderful experience and wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Plough to anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back! The whole team is a credit to the pub and industry. Get yourself down here and see for yourselves.”
