Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the sheer variety across the cuisine counters, though quality is uneven. Praise lands on the ribs and pork belly, pork bao, spicy chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken, steak and stuffed peppers, with the Eton mess and a large starter and dessert spread also singled out. Complaints are just as specific. Sushi is described as small with dry rice, the octopus as rubbery, the mac and cheese as very bad, and the mini cakes as dry. The Indian section draws criticism for oily dishes and a bony lamb rogan sitting in gravy even after replenishing, and one diner calls the starters greasy fried food like chicken nuggets and fish fingers. Queues at the teppanyaki station, with one cook working, and a crowded room under the 90-minute table limit leave some feeling they spent more time waiting than eating. Floor staff are called polite and helpful, and one reviewer found a Tuesday evening not so full. One guest in a large birthday party notes that when a dish runs out, the chefs freshly prepare more on request.

“I recently visited JRC Buffet in Watford. I’m a big fan of buffets and enjoy trying different cuisines from around the world, so I’m certainly not a fussy eater. On the day I visited, I was extremely hungry, so I expected to enjoy the food regardless. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. I was genuinely disappointed by the quality of the food and its texture. The sushi, in particular, was very poor and fell well below expectations. The service also didn’t meet the standard I had hoped for. The only attentive staff members were those working on the restaurant floor, who were polite and helpful. I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I felt this one was necessary. My intention isn’t to discourage people from visiting, but to provide honest feedback that I hope the restaurant will take on board. I also believe a wider selection of halal dishes would make the buffet more appealing and inclusive. I sincerely hope JRC uses this feedback to improve, because it has the potential to be much better.”

“We recently celebrated my sister’s birthday at JRC Global Buffet and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. We had around 20 guests and had booked our seats in advance which made everything very smooth and well organised. The atmosphere was really good and created the perfect setting for a family celebration. The restaurant felt welcoming and lively, making it enjoyable for everyone in our group. The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful throughout our visit, always making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. One of the best things about JRC Global Buffet is the wide variety of food available. There were so many different options to choose from, catering to all tastes and preferences. All the food we tried was delicious, fresh and well prepared and everyone in our group found something they enjoyed. Also if an item you really wanted had run out, you could simply let one of the chefs know and they would freshly prepare more just for you usually within about five minutes. Overall, JRC Global Buffet is a great place for birthday celebrations, family gatherings, and small parties. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to celebrate a special event.”

“I visited here this evening, while staying at the premier inn. I honestly didn't rate it. Although there are a few different cuisine counters, I found them to be basic. The tapas table consisted of paella, that didn't taste like paella and macaroni cheese. The deserts was really poor, limited selection and low quality. The Chinese and Malaysian counters were "okay" but nothing flavourism and appealing. The main section in the middle labelled as "starters" was cheap, greasy fried food... Chicken nuggets, fish fingers, chips, all thrown in a deep fat fryer. I certainly wouldn't visit again. Far too expensive for what's on offer.”

“I went to see whats all this fuss about their 241 offer on Wednesday. I was really impressed by the dishes available and the service. The manager was very helpful when offering a table a bit more away from everyone as I dont like noisy areas. The place was very clean and well presented. I really enjoyed the stuffed peppers and the steak.”

“I am reporting a serious safety incident at Watford JRC restaurant. The tables at this restaurant are unstable and pose a clear safety hazard. During my visit, an unstable table caused hot soup to spill onto me, resulting in damage to my clothing and a burn injury. This is a dangerous situation involving hot food and could easily lead to more serious harm. After the incident, I raised this with a member of staff. Instead of taking responsibility or offering assistance, the staff member responded in a dismissive and inappropriate manner, stating that customers getting their clothes dirty “happens every day” and that the restaurant would not take any action. I also found the staff member’s attitude to be discriminatory and unacceptable. Rather than addressing a legitimate safety concern, my situation was dismissed without any proper response. This indicates that the restaurant is aware of an ongoing safety risk but is failing to take action, showing a clear disregard for customer safety and wellbeing. This hazard is especially dangerous for vulnerable groups such as children and elderly customers. An unstable table carrying hot food creates a high risk of serious injury, as these individuals may not be able to react or move away quickly enough. I believe this matter requires urgent investigation before a more serious injury occurs.”
