Quick info
About Cassio Lounge
Cassio Lounge is a restaurant on High St in Watford that runs a community side alongside its kitchen: preloved clothing is sold with the proceeds going to charities that customers nominate. Book lending and swapping is part of the setup, and a lounge passport earns complimentary treats. The room has several low settees, mismatched chairs and lots of pictures on the walls. The kitchen serves a full English breakfast and other brunch dishes, plus tacos with nachos and dips. Vegan and gluten free menus are separate, and seasonal menus run as well. The bar makes cocktails, including jugs. Orders go in through the website or a QR code, at the table, at the bar, or from paper menus.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the chicken, bacon and avocado dish, praised both as a salad and as a burger, with the tacos and nachos, the full English breakfast and the tapas plates close behind. Diners describe the food as tasty, well presented and filling, and several mention the separate vegan and gluten free menus. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, and the relaxed, quirky lounge draws families, couples and dog owners, with a doggie treat station, a children's play area and a book swap. Cocktails and jugs come up as affordable. The main complaints concern ordering: one reviewer had trouble three times in a row with the QR process, though staff stepped in to help, and one noted poached eggs that kept a little vinegar on the plate. In a group of seven, one person was not impressed by the food. Another reviewer mentions asking for a Lounge passport that leads to complimentary treats.

“I love the quirkiness of this place and it is so lovely and welcoming. We had not been in Watford for years and this used to be a gloomy Bank that had sent me a nasty letter for being overdrawn. I'm so pleased that horrible bank has gone now to be replaced by this wonderful place. Morgan was most welcoming, and soon put us at ease. She is clearly very happy and motivated to work here. I love the fab décor of this place. Gone are the days of the dark and gloomy overly alpha male pubs, centred around the bar. The main feature of this place is the lounge which feels welcoming to every-one. I love the masses of pictures upon the walls. There are several low level settees and many of the chairs differ. There is a lovely French dining-room wooden bureau almost identical to one my French grand parents had. Doggies are clearly welcome here as there is a lovely doggie treats station. Photos of regular dogs are on the wall. What a fun idea. There is an area where small children can play. There is a book lending and swapping facility. Preloved clothing and other items are up for sale with proceeds going to charities nominated by the customers. What a brilliant idea. There is such a lovely community feel about this place. The food appears lovely. This is my first ever visit and didn't have time to eat this time but certainly will next time.”

“7 of us (ladies of a certain age) on a Thursday evening. It was easy to go to the bar and order or order at the table. Great selection. We were particularly impressed with separate vegan and gluten free menus. 6 of us enjoyed our food. One was not impressed. Well presented and tasty. The staff were really great. Fun, helpful and effective.”

“Had such a great experience at Cassio Lounge in Watford! From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. They made us feel really comfortable without being over the top, and nothing felt like too much trouble. It’s rare to find service that strikes that perfect balance, but they absolutely nailed it here. The food was just as impressive. We tried a mix of dishes and everything came out beautifully presented and full of flavour. The tacos were a standout—packed with tender, well-seasoned meat, loads of melted cheese, and really satisfying. The nachos on the side were crisp and fresh, and the dips tied everything together perfectly. We also had the full English breakfast, which was spot on. The eggs were cooked perfectly with rich, runny yolks, the bacon was nicely done, and the sausages were full of flavour. The hash browns were crispy, the beans were just right, and even the little extras like the mushrooms and tomato were cooked really well. You can tell they use good quality ingredients and take care with how everything is prepared. The atmosphere in the lounge is relaxed and welcoming, making it a great place to catch up with friends or just enjoy a laid-back meal. It has that cosy, casual vibe but still feels like a bit of a treat. Overall, amazing food, fantastic service, and a really enjoyable experience from start to finish. Will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend to anyone in Watford looking for a great place to eat!”

“Stayed locally to this place so ended up coming here for dinner and breakfast. Food came out super quickly both times, service was super friendly and both meals were delicious. Would recommend!”

“I don't eat out often, but whenever I do, this is my go-to spot. Been coming every now and then for years and each time the experience is great. The coffee is lovely, the food delicious every time and good portions; I love the seasonal menus that let me try new things. The staff is always so pleasant, and the interior is beautiful. I enjoy the ease of ordering through the website, but there's paper menus and ordering at the bar available too. Perfect place, and I hope it will be in Watford forever :)”
