Customer Review Summary
Diners mostly return to The Millhouse for the food, calling it delicious and fantastic, with a tuna mayo and spring onion jacket potato, a vegetarian Sunday roast with a cheese pie, and a beef burger among the dishes named. Portions are described as generous, even huge, and a few mention weekly offers and a three course deal. Close behind is the atmosphere: reviewers watch football with a beer, sit in the beer garden, and celebrate birthdays and a Christmas dinner, with a buffet and a Blues Brothers act at one party. Service splits opinion. Several call the staff friendly and attentive, but one Sunday visitor found the bar painfully slow, with loud music and two different food items out of stock on successive orders. Another found the Coronation Chicken Jacket Potato extremely oily, with a layer of oil left on the plate. Elsewhere, a problem with an order at the table was quickly resolved, and forgotten puddings arrived promptly once the diners reminded the team.

“Today, I tried the Coronation Chicken Jacket Potato for the first time, and honestly, it was one of the most disappointing and unpleasant meals I have had in a long time. I understand that Coronation Chicken is traditionally made with curry spices, a sweet flavour, and raisins, so my disappointment is not simply because the taste was unfamiliar to me. The main problem was that the dish was extremely oily and greasy. Every bite of the chicken seemed to be covered in oil, and even the raisins were swimming in the oily sauce. There was a clearly visible layer of oil left on the plate. The jacket potato and filling were soaked in greasy sauce, and I felt genuinely nauseous while eating it. Food can have different flavours, and everyone has different tastes, but food should not be this greasy. Good ingredients deserve to be treated and prepared properly, not drowned in excessive oil. I sincerely hope the kitchen and chef will take some time to reflect on the quality and preparation of this dish. Food should not be wasted or ruined in this way. To be fair, my husband ordered the beef burger, and his meal was reasonably good. Therefore, my disappointment is mainly with the Coronation Chicken Jacket Potato. I hope the restaurant takes customer feedback seriously and improves the quality and preparation of this dish.”

“Went here for food and drink on a Sunday afternoon. Place was not very busy, however the service at the bar was painfully slow. Took over 10 minutes to get our first drink. The music was really loud, which made it difficult to hold a conversation with people at our table. We decided on our food order, and after another long queue, we were informed thay one of the items was unavailable. I asked if this was the only item not avaible, and was told yes. We went back to the table to reselect our food order. Second time around, I was again told a now different item was out of stock. Guy on the bar seemed uninterested. Would not recommend. The plough is only 5 minutes walk around the corner, and offers a much better service overall.”

“My first visit to the Millhouse on Friday 29/5/26. The menu had a great choice of options, we chose to order the 3 course & drinks offer. There was an issue with our order when our food arrived at the table. This was quickly resolved by your team member named Olly. The food was delicious, and we will definitely be visiting again and recommending to our friends. Once we'd finished our meal we ventured into the beer garden for further drinks, a great night was had.The millhouse has a great atmosphere and vibe. Even with the meal issue you couldn't fault the staff, hence the 5 star review ⭐”

“A great pub restaurant, the staff are attentive and the food is delicious! I didn't take a picture, I ate the food quickly because it looked so delicious. I had the tuna mayo spring onion jacket potato which was beautifully presented, a good filling to potato ratio. My father had a vegetarian Sunday roast, with a pie, which he described as an "exceptional cheese pie". Average portion size, plenty of flavour. We are now enjoying an americano and vanilla latte (which is absolutely recommended by me).”
