Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the setting: stunning views over the hills, sheep wandering past the garden, and a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere in a well-kept historic building where candles at dusk feel like a fairytale. Cyclists and dog walkers stop in for coffee, and dogs are welcome in the garden. Friendly staff keep things running even when the pub is packed. Food comes close behind, with praise for the Farmhouse Breakfast of local sausages and bacon, warm filled croissants, homemade fish cakes and a Thai beef salad. One guest also describes an overnight stay in a room with countryside views. The Sunday roast is the recurring complaint. Two reviewers found the portions small for the price, the gravy thin and watery, and the meat bland, though one praised the tender lamb, large Yorkshire pudding and excellent vegetables. Another felt the full English was let down by chopped spring onions on the eggs and mushrooms that tasted of balsamic. When the cheesecake ran out on a busy Friday afternoon, one table was given complimentary coffees.

“Came here the other week with my mate and his friend, I recently purchased my first bike and we have been going out on Sundays and I've been following my friend as he's been going out for about 3 years and so knows a lot or routes, this route we went to downe, Edenbridge, Westerham, Hever and Biggin Hill We stopped at botley hill farmhouse for a coffee before and hours ride! The farmhouse was really nice and the coffee really nice, it was busy with another group of motorbike riders and a few groups of cyclists”

“A Weekend Morning Pick-Me-Up at Botley Hill Farmhouse Rating: 4.5 / 5 Cuisine: British / Country Farmhouse Location: Limpsfield Road, Warlingham (Surrey Hills) Tucked away along the crest of the North Downs in the Surrey Hills, Botley Hill Farmhouse offers one of the most idyllic morning spots in the area. Housed in a charming 16th-century historic building with exposed timber beams, brick fireplaces, and a modern light-filled conservatory extension, it balances traditional rustic appeal with contemporary comfort. The Vibe & Setting Arriving on a clear weekend morning, the first thing that hits you is the panoramic view across the Titsey Estate and surrounding valley. If you sit near the windows or outside in the garden terrace during warmer weather, the countryside backdrop makes breakfast feel like a true escape. The atmosphere inside is quiet & relaxed, warm, and distinctly dog-friendly—expect to see walkers, families, and cyclists stopping in for a well-earned coffee and fuel. Food & Drink Highlights The breakfast and morning menu focuses heavily on quality, locally sourced produce—much of it pulled straight from nearby farms. * The Farmhouse Breakfast: Everything you want from a proper English morning plate. Local butcher's sausages, thick-cut bacon, rich poached eggs, and proper golden hash browns. The quality of the meat stands out immediately—succulent and well-seasoned rather than mass-produced. * Warm Filled Croissants & Pastries: A lighter alternative if you aren't up for a full fry-up. Flaky, buttery, and packed with fresh fillings, paired with a remarkably smooth, well-extracted flat white. * Vegetarian & Lighter Options: Good variety on offer, from perfectly poached eggs with crushed avocado on sourdough to wholesome warm porridge with berry compost and honey. Service & Practicalities The service is welcoming, prompt, and unpretentious. Even during peak weekend morning hours, the staff keep things moving efficiently without making you feel rushed. * Parking: Generous on-site parking available, making access easy right off Limpsfield Road. * Reservations: Breakfast/brunch hours are typically served early on Sunday mornings (around 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM before the popular Sunday roast service takes over). Booking a table ahead of time is highly recommended. Final Verdict Whether you’re wrapping up an early morning dog walk along the Downs or just catching up with family over fresh pastries and proper coffee, Botley Hill Farmhouse hits all the right notes. Excellent local food, fantastic staff, and sweeping valley views make it an absolute gem for a weekend morning treat.”

“Impressive old building, kept so well and spotless clean - really nice, relaxed and inviting atmosphere, and after sundown when the candles are lit up, make syou feel like in fairytale. Freshly cooked and pleasantly presented food. It was a bit crowded but we did not have to wait long to be served. Dogs welcome in the garden, so laud kids too :) Simply faultless! Highly recommended!”

“Food only.... The staff were very good and the food was nice... The only criticism I had was with the full English breakfast. The eggs had spring onions or baby leeks chopped on top and the mushrooms tasted like it was drizzled with balsamic vinegar. There's no need to mess around with a full English, use good ingredients and let them speak for themselves.”

“A great historic country pub. Nice staff. Good food. They were very busy and some things were no longer available. We were given complimentary coffees when the cheese cake ran out. It was a friday at 2.30pm.”
