About Café at Spring Cottage
Café at Spring Cottage is a cafe set in the woodlands of Rivington, on Rivington Ln. Orders are placed at the counter, and the home made food is cooked to order. Breakfast and brunch are served, including French toast with bacon, and the menu also lists a ploughman's lunch. Cheesecake is among the cakes. The cafe hosts weddings, and a private dining room gives groups a space of their own. A fire is lit when it is chilly. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often describe a woodland cottage setting in Rivington, called beautiful, quaint and stunning, with food that matches it. Diners name a ploughman's lunch, French toast with added bacon, and a cheese toastie praised for its take. Cakes get close attention too, including a cheesecake one diner called the best in the UK and a sticky apple slice. Coffee and tea are also praised, and the food is described as home made and cooked to order. Two families held weddings here and describe grazing boards, eton mess, pizzas, and vegan and vegetarian guests who loved their meals. Staff are repeatedly called welcoming and friendly, including a young man working the counter alone. The main complaint is price. One reviewer called the cheese toastie crazily expensive and would not return, while another accepted slightly higher prices for the quality. One visitor stayed in a jacket even after the fire was lit. One couple's dogs were given a free pork pie after the owner admitted forgetting their treats.

“Just so quaint and wholesome and wonderful. Staff were just lovely and so welcoming - Cake selection was STUNNING. My Husband had what he described as ‘the best cheesecake in the UK’ and I had a lovely sticky apple slice. All presented beautifully alongside a nice cuppa T. The staff very kindly gave our dogs a free Pork Pie after I told them I forgot their dog treats 🙈 Just a perfect place.”

“It's a hidden gem in the woodlands of Rivington. The food is all home made and is excellent. The staff are so welcoming, friendly and helpful. I would describe the place as quirky, country cottage style. It's also possible to eat outdoors when the weather is fine.”

“I really wanted to rate this high as the service from the young lad manning everything by himself was excellent, and the take on the cheese toastie was excellent. But £16 for a cheese toastie has left a hole in my heart 😂 I would come back if I heard the prices had been revamped but not again at such crazy prices.”

“Lovely cafe tucked away in the woods. Good drink and food options and lovely staff.”

“Visited for the first time with my husband and we were not disappointed! Coffees were lovely and food was cooked on order meaning it was fresh and not sat on a hot plate. The young chap behind the counter was super polite and was clearly working hard. The setting is beautiful and we'd return. The prices may be a tad higher but when you look around you and note the food quality, you're paying for what you get. If you want cheap coffees and food that's been sat a while then go somewhere else. Bravo to the owners. We had a lovely breakfast in a lovely setting 😋.”
