About The Railway Teddington
The Railway Teddington is an independent gastropub at 3 Victoria Rd in Teddington, beside the station. The kitchen makes its British pub dishes in-house, with small plates and a Scotch egg on the menu. Sunday roasts are served family style, with beef, pork, chicken or lamb, and a nut roast as the vegetarian option. Desserts include sticky toffee pudding. Cocktails and a house wine offer make up the drinks side. The building is a classic pub with original features, with a downstairs restaurant and an upstairs seating area. A private dining room is available for groups. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is the main draw, with diners describing beef, pork, lamb, chicken and a nut roast that one vegetarian called delicious and a tough roast to make. Reviewers praise the cooking, the generous but balanced portions and the quick, friendly service. Close behind are the desserts, including sticky toffee pudding, apple plum crumble, chocolate creme brulee and carrot cake with milk ice cream. Weekday visitors single out the quiche, asparagus soup with cheese on toast, a scotch egg and the small plates, and one calls the lunchtime menu excellent value. Criticism is limited but specific. One local resident left disappointed after an early supper because four staff kept asking how the food was, the Friday fish offer that includes a bottle of house wine was not mentioned by the first server, and a staff meeting was held at the bar beside the table. Another diner found upstairs too noisy for conversation and felt the manager was short with junior staff. Even so, several plan to return, one couple marking their anniversary there every year.

“Fab little spot close to Teddington station. Great small plates, all really tasty, and the dessert: carrot cake with milk icecream- amazing! Staff were all super friendly and attentive. Really lovely spot! Great drink selection too”

“We had a table upstairs for Sunday lunch. The food was very good indeed: high quality and well presented; one of the best Sunday roasts I've had out. Between us we had the beef, pork and nut roast lunches. It was busy but service was good (although I felt the maitre d'/manager was a little short and sharp with more junior staff). Upstairs was quite noisy, making it a bit tricky for conversation some of the time but overall I'd recommend.”

“It was our first visit to the Railway, which was based on my sisters recommendation and I am also aware that your pub is highly regarded. And we were not disappointed!! What a lovely building, a classic pub with original features, well maintained. We loved the decor and general ambience - it was perfect. The waiters, staff and barmen were all so jolly and helpful. Made us very relaxed and welcome. To top it all, the food was delicious, perfect portions, well cooked and seasoned, and beautifully presented (which is so important as 'one eats with their eyes' first !!) We came away absolutely full and satisfied!! We will definitely be back...”

“We were greeted and made to feel welcome. The service was excellent. The food was just great , home prepared and tasty. The quiche was the best I have ever tasted! The asparagus soup with cheese on toast went down well! The chocolate creme brulee was divine! The restaurant downstairs was spotless and comfortable. A return visit is a cert! The lunchtime menu was excellent value.”

“A very disappointing early 5.30 supper last night. Too many staff serving us and asking how food was. First one didn't mention the Friday fish offer included a bottle of house wine. Easily resolved by adding to promotion menu on table. We had a corner table which when food arrived attracted so many flies it was horrible. I'm quite tolerant but was really unpleasant. South African guy (owner I think although he denied being big boss) who we'd engaged in chat with early on as my guest was a Kiwi, lacking in charm. Offer to move upstairs to aircon and fly free area mid way thru our main course didnt help. Food lovely as is venue. I'm a local resident but you need to up your game in today's fiercely competitive market. Staff lovely but we didn't need/want 4 people asking how everything was. Also didn't appreciate 1 O minute staff meeting at bar next to our table, albeit interesting to listen to. Sorry but you had £100 of our business but I won't be back in a hurry”
