Inside, an open fire burns, and the menu includes a Sunday roast and fish and chips. The Boat House space can be booked for celebrations and birthdays, which gives groups a place to mark an occasion together. Everyone else is welcome to walk in. Customer Review Summary

Most reviewers return to the friendly, welcoming staff, with several singling out the manager, and others praising how accommodating the team was for a birthday in the Boat House. Setting and drinks follow close behind: a fabulous view across the river to Eel Pie Island, an open fire, mulled wine, a baileys hot chocolate and fish and chips. The food draws the sharpest complaints, mostly at Sunday lunch. One diner describes a Yorkshire pudding both burnt and raw, another found the cabbage raw, and a third received nachos with onion and chilli after ordering them without. One reviewer reports the manager made inappropriate comments to women at other tables, and a few found the service inattentive. Some would come back for a drink but not to eat, and staff apologised and refunded part of one bill after hearing the feedback.

“We had such a lovely evening at the Barmy Arms celebrating with our friends and family. A huge thank you to Jack and all the team for being so helpful, welcoming and flexible, and for accommodating all of our requests. Everything was organised perfectly, and the evening couldn't have gone better. We really appreciated all the help and attention to detail, which made our celebration even more special. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be coming back soon. We would highly recommend the Barmy Arms!”

“Amazing experience at the Barmy this Sunday. Booked the Boat House for my boyfriend’s birthday and they exceeded our expectations. We’re so accommodating and so friendly, we didn’t feel like a problem at all. I am so glad I booked the Barmy, we had an excellent time. All staff were perfect, and so friendly and happy to be there, even on a hot day!”

“I’m going to try and not be mean, but I may be in this review. I have been to the Barmy Arms for a drink and it was lovely, for Sunday lunch however, awful. The food was okay overall. I had the Sunday roast which was very basic and crowded. The chicken was well cooked but everything else was…sad. My partner had the beef and raclette pie, which was lovely. The service was fairly awful. We weren’t looked after much. You had a bunch of apathetic teens running the place who looked so deeply unhappy to be there. This is not on them, I just wonder why they looked so sad. There was a manager of sorts in the restaurant who did not pay any attention to us but hounded the women on the other tables, even making inappropriate comments. Overall just an unpleasant experience.”

“A great pub to visit with a fabulous view across the river to eel pie island. The manager (i think) was a wonderfully welcoming and friendly guy, the only disappointment was the food. It was dreadful and if i hadn't been so hungry, I would have sent it back, everything was insipid and barely cooked and the cabbage was just raw. The Yorkshire pudding was nice.”
