“This place was awesome. Excellent gluten free options for my families allergies and the servers were very good at answering questions or finding the answers. Food was tasty and plentiful while the service was fairly quick. Manager came over 1-2 times to check on us and our food. Gluten free sticky toffee pudding was my wife’s highlight. We’ll be back.”

“Good Parking and Nice friendly welcome, from the 3 staff we saw. Cosy Corner Table. Ordered Drinks and then Halloumi in Batter (very good and better than breadcrumbs variety), along with Pan Fried Mushrooms topped with Stilton. We then had an 8oz and 16oz steak with proper chips, onion rings, mushrooms and home made coleslaw along with Pepper Sauce. The food was great from start to end. Sadly we were too full for desert but I looked to see what they had and I could have chosen at least 4 different ones. All in all a very nice lunch. Perhaps next time I'd go for a light bite and have desert, but certainly there will be a next time.”

“Lived in highworth for 5 years and came last night for our first visit. The Curry was lovely and fresh, the only reason we knocked a star off is that husband felt the nann bread could have been bigger and that it could have been served with a poppadom. Big pot of mango chutney which was barely touched , he wouldn't usually dip a nann bread in it but couldn't figure out what other purpose it had being on the dish with no poppadom. I had the hunters chicken with a side of onion rings and was blown away at the portion size of them both. I think I managed half and was stuffed. Not that its a bad thing but felt very wasteful leaving it. Homemade coleslaw was delicious. I also had lemon meringue pie and the server was really lovely and warmed it up for me. (although only recently learned they are served chilled) Very grateful for being so accommodating with my request. We will be back again as there seems to be so many other things we want to try on the menu. We had a starter to share, 2 rounds of drinks, mains, sides and 1 dessert total was £74. Very good value”

Customer Review Summary

Steak is the main draw, with diners praising a rump steak and an 8oz and 16oz pairing served with proper chips, onion rings, homemade coleslaw and pepper sauce. Close behind are the Sunday roast and generous pub classics such as hunters chicken, with portions repeatedly described as huge. Reviewers also single out halloumi in batter, cheesy garlic bread with chorizo and herbs, dirty fries, and cheesecake or gluten free sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Several mention the dog friendly welcome, including treats for dogs, and the friendly staff, with one server warming a lemon meringue pie on request. Gluten free and vegetarian options get specific praise. Criticism is mild and specific: one diner found the steak with ale, bacon and Stilton combination didn't quite work, and another felt the naan was small, came without a poppadom, and left a pot of mango chutney untouched. One visitor left half a large meal and felt it wasteful. A recurring detail is generosity at the table, such as a dessert arriving with three huge scoops of ice cream in place of custard.
