Customer Review Summary
Sunday roasts and the Jack Daniels burger draw repeat praise, with diners describing beef dinners, steak and ale pie, and chicken kebabs as well presented and tasty, plus gluten free options catered for. Several highlight friendly, attentive staff who checked in through the meal, lit candles for a birthday cake, and took group photos for celebrations. Close behind, some note the building itself needs freshening up, citing ripped toilet wallpaper and dirty exterior paintwork. But a recurring complaint centers on inconsistent kitchen quality: one reviewer describes an over-peppered soup, dry Cajun chicken, and disintegrating bbq ribs at a birthday meal, while another reports a chicken gyro served on a stale wrap with browned lettuce and a sunken, inedible creme brulee, with a server only offering to "let the chef know." Others found no such issues, praising home made chips and fresh salad. Several reviewers say they'd return, and one recounts staff welcoming two well behaved dogs into the bar area during a family celebration.

“My family and I booked this for my Nana’s 80th and the food was very well presented and tasty. It met everyone’s needs and there was a variety of different menu choices made, the staff were friendly, polite and eager to please, checking in and seeing if we need any more condiments and drinks orders. They allowed us to bring our own cake for the celebrations and lit the candles for us and brought it out for a surprise, and took group photos for us”

“Popped in for lunch whilst in the area. Parts in need of freshening up. Toilets have ripped wallpaper, outside paint work is very dirty. This might put some people off. The food itself was very good. Home made chips made a simple but tasty lunch. Staff were lovely. Definitely worth supporting this local pub.”

“Great pub with really tasty food and a good menu selection. The service was quick and smooth, even when it was busy. Staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Would definitely come back 10/10!”

“Came to the Red Cow last year and the food was excellent with a great atmosphere, so was an obvious choice for my daughter’s birthday meal. Unfortunately the food was nowhere near the same level of quality. I had a soup of the day starter which had been over seasoned with pepper to the point where you couldn’t taste anything else. For main I had minted lamb pie with creamy spring onion mash that contained no spring onions and could not taste the mint. My wife had Cajun chicken which was so dry it was hard to chew, my eldest daughter had a curry that tasted awful and my youngest daughter had bbq ribs that had no flavour and the actual rib bone disintegrated when handled. When asked by the server if the meal was OK, I said it was not good but they never asked for any feedback so clearly didn’t care too much. Would not go again.”
