Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the cheese counter's sharing platter, served with bread, crackers, chutneys, pork pie and pate, and several say it was more than two people could finish, with staff packing up the remainder to take away. Close behind is the Joules cask ale, with the Pale and the Blonde both praised as well kept, and a few mention it was their first taste of the brand. Also named are a ham salad sandwich with all the trimmings and soup with bread described as piping hot, plus sandwiches, jacket potatoes and main meals. One reviewer notes that Sunday food is limited to cheese, bread and crackers, which was still excellent. Many describe the staff as friendly and accommodating and the pub as atmospheric and traditional, a few minutes' walk from the railway station, with one noting it is friendly to away fans and another that it is dog friendly. The one critical account, from a traveller killing time between trains, describes a barperson whose attitude felt verging on hostile, and says they drank up quickly and left. Several reviewers say they will definitely be back.

“Lovely traditional pub with delicious food, our first time here but will definitely be back. We had the sharing platter from the cheese counter, came with bread, crackers, chutneys, pork pie and pate, simply fantastic (far more than we could eat, so had the rest packed up to take away) I think this platter could easily feed 4 people, so at £28 it's a real bargain too all washed down with a couple of pints of Joules pale ale, the rest of the menu looked great too, a must do if you're in Stoke town center”

“I had an hour to kill between trains so visited the Glebe on a recommendation from a friend. It’s very conveniently located for the railway station, only a few minutes walk. My drink was OK and reasonably priced. However the attitude from the barperson towards me while they served me was verging on hostile and made me feel rather uncomfortable . I drank up quickly and left, I don’t think I shall be returning.”

“I think George Orwell may have been describing The Glebe in his article on the perfect English pub. Great beer & food, with the perfect atmosphere & service. And less than 5-minutes walk from the station.”

“Great Joules pub. Very atmospheric inside and a friendly crowd on a Saturday lunch. Good ale. The sharing platter for £28 was more than two of us could possibly eat and was fabulous. There are sandwiches, jacket potatoes and main meals too. Will definitely be back.”

“What a find! If you visits stoke you MUST visit. Had a fabulous Cheese Board on our first visit, just round the corner from the train station. Loved it so much we returned to have something of the main menu when we were due to leave. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, including packing up the remainder of our enormous cheese board! When we next visit Stoke, this will be the first place on our list”
