About Bayberry Hollow
Bayberry Hollow is a bistro on Tanfield in Stanley, with a gift shop attached at the entrance that sells home items, gifts, clothing and jewellery. That lets guests pick up a present or a piece of clothing before or after a meal. The kitchen serves a corned beef pie, and afternoon tea is on the menu for a longer sit-down. The cake selection includes a gluten free option, so there is a sweet choice for guests who avoid gluten. The dining room is finished in farmhouse-style decor.

Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers come for breakfast, with the English breakfast singled out as delicious, alongside good coffee, a decaf and an iced latte with whipped cream and caramel. Close behind are the cakes and bakes: large slices, a gluten free Halloween cake with a soft texture, fruit scones and a new toffee crunch pie. One diner also recommends the corned beef pie, meatball marinara and cheese and pickle quiche. Staff are described as friendly and attentive, quick to seat and serve, and wooden high chairs are provided for small children. The attached gift shop earns repeated praise. The main caveat comes from a gluten free diner whose order arrived with the bread on a partner's plate after the eggs were mixed up. It was swapped over, but the reviewer says that would not have been acceptable for a coeliac. The cafe is extremely busy, so one reviewer suggests booking a table for groups, and another calls it not the cheapest. Portions are big enough that several diners took half home or could not fit in a cake.

“Recommended by a friend and did not disappoint! Came for breakfast on an impromptu date day with my husband, seated and served quickly but did not feel rushed. Staff were attentive, friendly and the English Breakfast was so good😍 really good coffee as well! My husband had decaf and said it was one of the best he's had🙌 will absolutely return! Wooden highchairs available too so can accommodate small children💛”

“I have had the pleasure of taking some friends recently both of which are a little bit less mobile so needed a wheelchair and appropriate sitting arrangements. Wow the staff were amazing and so helpful food was fantastic and access to the property great for those with a wheel chair. Toilet facilities for disabled very good. I could not rate this place more highly and will regularly be back. My only concern was the car that parked across the disabled access making it difficult to get my friends back to the car safel even though the sign said no parking. But hey that’s no reflection on the place or the fantastic staff”

“Haven't been to Bayberry Hollow for couple of years and remember why we loved it so much. Arrived at 12 before dinner rush and was served immediately and food with us quickly. Food was delicious and helpings so generous we couldn't fit in a cake. Finished off with a look around the lovely shop. Will be back soon!”

“Had a great afternoon tea with a friend, the food was lovely, fresh and tasty. The portions were big and we both took half of it home. The service was excellent, the staff were very nice and attentive. Sorry I didn't take any photos.”
