About Tayu Pan Asian
Tayu Pan Asian is a Pan Asian restaurant and bar in Gateshead, at 168 Kells Ln, and it welcomes dogs, so diners can bring their own along. Bao buns arrive in a small wooden steamer basket. The kitchen also cooks curries and noodles, including a massaman beef curry, along with salt and chilli chicken. The menu runs to sushi as well. A bar sits alongside the dining room and mixes cocktails and mocktails, which gives the evening a drinks option for those not having alcohol.

Customer Review Summary
The complaints are about operations. One diner found nearly half of an already reduced menu unavailable, sushi included, and the manager said they were getting many complaints about the cuts. The same visit saw wrong drinks brought to the table and a room so hot people fanned themselves with menus. Another reviewer found no cutlery in a takeaway delivered to a hospital, and was told supplying it was not standard. One takeaway order arrived with a long delivery time, and the chicken could have been crispier.

“What a fantastic find here in Low Fell. We popped in for a meal and were absolutely blown away by the quality of everything we ordered. The bao buns were a highlight, served perfectly in a little wooden steamer basket. Every dish was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented on the table. We left feeling completely satisfied and are already planning our next visit back.”

“We sat choosing what we wanted. Ordered drinks which were 2 pints of Asahi, 1 orange and lemonade and a Bacardi and coke. The waitress struggled to comprehend this order. Throughout the night various incorrect drinks orders were brought to the table. When we tried to order our food, half of what the party asked for was no longer available on the menu. The manager explained new menu’s were coming soon. So, almost half of an already shrunken menu was not available. (The menu had already been reduced some months back). He crossed off what was no longer available, then looked skeptical as I suggested that this should have already been done to the existing menus. At the very least, the staff should have informed customers what was no longer available before they studied the menu! The apologetic manager admitted that they were receiving a lot of complaints about the decision to remove so much from the menu, which included the sushi which I had been looking forward. He gave us some prawn crackers by way of apology. Trying to attract attention to order additional drinks etc was difficult, most of the staff seemed to be totally rudderless. The place was absolutely roasting hot. People sat fanning themselves with menus on every table, the staff absolutely oblivious to the issue. I complained about the temperature and was told that they would turn on the air conditioning. They didn’t, or more likely it was broken! Eventually, I asked the manager just to open the door, he scratched his head for a while and eventually agreed that it was probably a good idea! The food that we did get was excellent!”
