Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the slow-braised pork belly and beef, with the pork belly's melt-in-the-mouth texture and the sauces and jus drawing repeated praise. Close behind are starters such as the breaded brie, black pudding croquette and pork terrine, plus moules frites and a pea risotto. Reviewers also mention fish and swordfish, a warm apple and raspberry crumble, and dietary options on request. Many describe friendly, attentive staff and food that arrived quickly, and several call the set menu good value. A few say the restaurant felt quiet on a weekday evening. The main complaint comes from a long-time family customer who left hungry after a starter, main and bottle of wine for three, and went on to book another restaurant. Another reviewer had a dessert replaced and taken off the bill, and noted the staff stayed unobtrusive while the table took ages to order.

“What a wonderful place. The ambience is definitely a cut above, the hostess, Tracy, was warm and chatty and the whole place has an air of elegance. The starters were divine, we both had the fish and it was stunning. For the main, I had the beef and my wife had the swordfish, we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Also, for fine dining the cost was not extortionate, it was perfectly reasonable. We will be returning.”

“Came here for a family meal. My son remembers it before it closed and was glad to be back as we are too. My son enjoyed pork terrine and moules frites. Husband enjoyed the brie and pork belly. I enjoyed the pea risotto. My hubby said would you eat that again and I said yes. That is a sign of a good meal. I would highly recommend this eatery”

“Loved the original restaurant and keen to try since it's reopened. We visited on a wet Wednesday evening for a birthday meal. 4 diners at 6.30. The restaurant was quiet with a big party just finishing their meal and I think just 1 more table occupied which is why only 3 stars for atmosphere. Service was prompt and in obtrusive even though we were taking ages to decide what to order. Food delivered quite quickly, was hot, fresh and good presentation. We only had 1 problem with 1 desert, this was replaced and taken off our bill. What great value 2 courses £20 or 3 courses £25. Good range of drinks and both wines chosen were good. Definitely going back.”

“This has been our family’s go to restaurant since they opened. Good food, great service, but last night we all left hungry after a starter, main course and a bottle of wine. In short we spent a hundred pounds on a meal for three, left hungry and booked into another restaurant. Understand portion control is important, but it’s the first time I’ve ever left a restaurant hungry.”
