Customer Review Summary

Fish and chips draws the most mentions at Guardbridge Inn, with reviewers describing a huge fish and a large portion. Close behind are the haddock, called incredible, and a Sunday roast beef dinner one diner rated among the best they had, with the beef likened to steak. A three course lunch of smaller portions is described as still more than enough, and one diner notes a dessert called the guardbridge mess. Scampi gets a flat verdict as typical scampi, and reviewers also mention many gluten free options and a decaf espresso martini from the bartender. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, efficient and polite, and the bar and dining room are described as spotless and cozy. Overnight guests describe very comfortable beds, clean rooms, a river view, a towel warmer and a tea and coffee setup with biscuits. One reviewer adds that buses run often to St Andrews and Leuchars station. No recurring complaint appears, and one diner closes by saying the owner and staff helped invent that new dessert.

“Love this quaint Inn. Would definitely stay here again. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside was great. Rooms very clean and well decorated.”

“Lovely inn to stay at during our family vacation to St. Andrews! The rooms were very clean and comfortable, we had a great view of the river. Dinner was delicious, recommend the fish and chips (large portion too!) and finish off the evening hanging out with Joe, the best bartender! He made me an amazing espresso martini (decaf) and was very personable. Highly recommend staying, eating, and/or drinking here!”

“We've had a couple of lunches here when we have been in the area. Lovely setting, cosy inside and the staff are polite and cheerful and helpful. Service is quick and efficient and place spotlessly clean. The food we had was delicious and freshly made, we ordered the 3 courses for £18 which are smaller portions but more than enough to fill you up and no waste! Definitely recommend. Thank you”

“We're here in St. Andrew's for 2 days, and the Guardbridge Inn is THE place to stay. It is exquisite. Claire, the owner, is lovely and very hospitable. She has designed her beautiful bedrooms to be ultra comfortable with cozy, warm bed linens and pillows. It was like sinking into a cloud and we had the best sleep. The bathroom has a wonderful surprise ...a large towel warmer which makes the towels feel even more luxurious. The rooms also have well stocked coffee/tea service with milk, sugar and even some biscuits. There's also a mini fridge out in the hallway with juice, yogurt and other snacks. We are so looking forward to having dinner tonight in Claire's restaurant downstairs. We highly recommend staying at Guardbridge Inn!”
