About Saint and Sinner
Saint and Sinner is a pub on St Peter's St in St Albans, set in a grade II listed former Nationwide Building Society building dating to the 1760s. Inside, the front area is the noisier part of the pub and the back is calmer, with a separate dining area leading through to the restaurant. An array of pictures hangs on the walls. Bootwarmer is the main beer, and the Sunday lunch comes with chicken. A gluten-free menu includes a gluten-free chicken burger. The Eden Room can be hired for large group bookings. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Food is the main complaint. One reviewer found the wagyu burger quite dry and the hot chocolate too diluted, another called the food okay and short of the drinks, and a third said the mains were starter size portions and that the wrong beer arrived. One group was turned away at the door because a man in Birkenstocks was refused entry while women in open shoes were let in, and a reviewer said it was the same shoes, different rule.

“The drinks were excellent, the atmosphere was lovely, and the staff were friendly. Everything seemed well organised. The food was okay, but there’s definitely room for improvement. A nice place for drinks, though the food didn’t quite match the rest of the experience.”

“We went for dinner before going to the theater next door. After a short wait to be seated we were shown through to the dining area. Area is noisy and felt busy. However walking through to the restaurant there was a completely different vibe and it was calm and cozy. Waiter Nathan was really friendly and helpful. They took my dietary restrictions seriously and made sure that the food I was able to choose from a special menu was safe for me to eat. It was probably the best gluten-free chicken burger I have ever had. It was so good I had to check it was actually gluten free! Nathan checked to make sure everything was okay but we had to leave quite quickly to get to the theatre or would have been very happy to have stayed longer and sampled the desserts. I would happily come back here again.”

“Unfortunately, we were not allowed in due to our male friend wearing Birkenstocks. All my female friends had their toes out however. Once we asked, but we have the same shoes on, he said yes, but that’s the rules because he is male. This is sexism at its finest. We will not be returning!!!”

“Had a company outing here and everything was superb! Michael and Kyle were absolutely fantastic along with everyone else. The food delicios, the place clean and very sophisticated. Special shout out to Michael and the other lad who were doing cocktails - they were absolutely fabulous. 10/10. We had a great day”

“We went to the Saint and Sinner for the first time today. Our server, Chloe, was very attentive and made some good recommendations. My husband and father-in-law had the Sunday lunch. FIL said it was the best chicken he had had for a long time! We will definitely call again when we visit St Albans”

We create experiences around drink and food – craft beers, fresh cocktails, brunch favourites, lunch classics, artisan pizza and on Sundays we roast!
