About Guelder Rose
Guelder Rose is a pub in Southport at 50 Marine Dr, with an indoor Kids Zone for toddlers and an outdoor play area, so families can settle in with young children. The carvery serves beef and gammon with Yorkshire pudding and vegetables such as cauliflower cheese, and the meat is weighed. The wider menu runs to fish and chips and a Kajun burger, alongside modern British dishes. Desserts come in giant sizes, and a dessert can go home to finish later if the main course has filled you up. Beer and lager are on the bar. The pub also hosts artisan market events indoors.

Customer Review Summary
The carvery is what most reviewers come for, and the praise centres on the vegetables: fresh, well cooked carrots and greens, proper cauliflower cheese, and leeks and red onions in cheese sauce. Diners also single out the peppered beef, the juicy gammon and a perfect Yorkshire pudding. Close behind are a Cajun burger, a cheeseburger, a sirloin steak cooked as asked, a Thai-style vegetable curry, fish and chips and a prawn cocktail, along with nice beer and lager and a beer garden. The recurring complaint is portion size. Several note the carvery meat is weighed, and one describes tiny plates and no gravy on a small carvery. Another wanted softer, crunchier roast potatoes, with one tasting soapy, and a third would have liked more veg and crispy roasties. One reviewer says a house salad arrived missing half its ingredients, and the fix was a single soya bean per missing item, explained as portion sized. One reviewer found the female toilets needed attention. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, and one family had their son's birthday made special.

“Friendly staff, Great Customer Service, Food was excellent. Clean and tidy. Plenty of seating available throughout the establishment. My only negative was the female toilets required attention, however this may have just been at the time I visited them. We will definitely come again.”
