About The Beach House
The Beach House is a cafe on The Quay in Southampton, on the bank of the Hamble with a small pebble beach in front and a quay for the Pink Ferry. A rooftop deck with wooden picnic-style benches looks out over the river, and the ground-floor restaurant area has tube-framed tables and chairs. The cafe is open daily, daytime only. The menu runs from a full English breakfast to Fish & chips, with panini and jacket potatoes alongside. Vegan and veggie options are listed, and the gluten-free choices include a panini and a sandwich. Milkshakes come in several flavours, including bubblegum. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Complaints centre on kitchen errors. One reviewer waited around half an hour for a vegan burger and received the wrong one, with an apology but no other remedy. Another found no fish inside the batter on the fish and chips, and a third describes cold chips and a dry, flavourless burger. A couple of reviewers call it a little pricey. One diner closes by noting the swans fed every day at noon.

“Lovely lunchtime selection. You’re able to purchase fish net, bucket, crab net and bacon from the store on the opposite side of the cafe. Great fun crabbing. There’s a small pebble beach in front of the cafe where kids were enjoying themselves. Small quay for the Pink Ferry.”

“Brilliant location with plenty parking. Food was top notch and plenty choice for veggie and vegan customers. Maybe a tad pricey but you get what you pay for and this was worth every penny. Staff are very friendly and always smiling.”

“I ordered an oat, caramel iced latte and the vegan chicken burger. Coffee made promptly, tasted nice. Took around 30 minutes for the burger, by which time my friend had almost finished her panini. Turns out I had been given a beef burger, which after checking with the cashier, was vegan, but not the chicken burger I had ordered. They offered to make me a chicken burger but due to the wait and the fact my friend was almost finished, I declined this. They said sorry but no other offer to remedy the mistake. I paid £22.75 for the drink and meal which I don’t feel was fair price for what I received. Nice view of Hamble river and plenty of outside seating. My friend’s panini did look good.”

“I've eaten at the Beach Hut for a number of years, usually when walking the dog. As a late diagnosed Coeliac (I'm in my sixties), eating out has become a challenge. Staff are always friendly and there's always something GF for me to eat. In early years this mostly amounted to a cake or a jacket potato. This time though, I was delighted to have the choice of GF panini or GF sandwich, any fillings. I chose a smoked salmon sandwich with cream cheese and chives. Delicious, even though the GF sliced bread was the type that clogs your mouth, the ingredients above were generous and in the right proportion to ensure a tasty mouthful, especially with the accompanying side salad. All washed down with a pot of tea. Thank you. :-)”

“Pleasantly surprised after popping in for a bite to eat on a not very warm day. Lovely panini's and really thick milkshakes. Sat outside as we had our two small doggies with us. Food was great, reasonably priced, service was quick and with a smile. Toilet was clean. couldn't ask for more.”
