About The Hobbit Pub
The Hobbit Pub is a fantasy-themed pub in Southampton at 134 Bevois Valley Rd, with Tolkien-style decor inside and limited seating indoors. Downstairs, a terraced garden offers plenty of outdoor seating and holds a castle, a pirate ship and a pool table. A pizza shack in the garden serves stone-baked pizzas. Cocktails come by the pint in a range of bright colours, and a cocktail challenge runs on a stamp card. Live music brings bands and DJs to a stage with a sound engineer, and the pub has both indoor and outdoor stages. Door staff check ID at the entrance.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the huge terraced beer garden downstairs, with its castle, pirate ship, covered pool table and pizza shed serving stone-baked pizzas. Close behind are the pint cocktails in bright colours, which several describe as a fun, cheap line-up, alongside a good range of taps and local ales. Live music runs through many reviews, with diners praising the stage, the sound and the bands, and a few calling it a good student night out. Reviewers also mention the Tolkien-style decor, relaxed crowd and feeling safe with the door staff. The main complaint is the cocktails themselves: one reviewer found them very sweet from blue curaçao syrup with a chemical taste, and another said they were mostly flat lemonade or cola. The same critical review describes bartenders brushing off a request to stamp a drinks card and a recommendation, and a t-shirt that had to be paid for after finishing the nine-stamp challenge. Another reviewer called one bartender a tad mean but fair, while others found the staff friendly.

“One of the best venues around. Massive outdoor area with pizza shed at the bottom. Great live music with a sound guy to get the sound great. Seen loads of bands here. Very relaxed atmosphere and good value beer prices.”

“The Hobbit is an absolute gem in Southampton! This place has such a unique vibe – it's quirky, alternative, and always buzzing. The interior has a cool fantasy feel, but the real star is the massive terraced garden downstairs. It's huge, with a castle, a pirate ship, a pizza kitchen, and loads of seating – perfect for a sunny afternoon or a lively evening. The drinks are famous for a reason. You have to try their pint cocktails – they're cheap (around a fiver), served in a pint glass, and come in loads of crazy colours . They're sweet and fun, and there's even a cocktail challenge if you're up for it . They've also got a great selection of beers, including local ales, and the staff are always friendly. They serve amazing stone-baked pizzas from the shack in the garden, which are perfect for soaking up the drinks [citation:4, 5]. There's live music almost every night, from bands to DJs, and the atmosphere is always welcoming . The door staff are great at keeping everyone safe, and you'll find a friendly, diverse crowd here. It's one of the best pubs in Southampton – don't miss it!”
