About Lyndon Fish Bar
At 260 Lyndon Rd in Solihull, Lyndon Fish Bar is a fish and chips takeaway that cooks its fish and chips fresh to order. Cod is the fish on the menu, and curry sauce is available to go with the chips. Kebab meat is also on the menu alongside the fish. Because orders are cooked as they are placed, a wait is part of the visit. The shop opens Monday to Saturday and is closed on Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips are the main draw, with reviewers singling out cod that "melts in your mouth", fish cooked fresh with light, crispy batter, and chips described as fresh and delicious. Close behind are the curry sauce and kebab meat, both called spot on, along with generous portions and friendly staff. Several reviewers say they drive well past other chippies to get here, and one mentions a clean, spotless interior. A few note the wait and a slightly pricey feel, though one calls the quality worth it. A minority of reviewers report a very different experience: one describes soggy chips, dry fish with a strong fishy smell, and tough sausage skins that looked like they had been sitting for hours, while another found a large order of chips hard and apparently reheated despite waiting for them to be cooked. Both had travelled a couple of miles because of the shop's reputation. One longtime regular nonetheless defends the place and says the fish and chips are lovely, having come since it opened.

“We used to come here fairly regularly and hadn’t been for around 6–12 months, so we were genuinely looking forward to getting our usual order. We travel just under 2 miles specifically because we’ve always considered this to be the better fish and chip shop in the area. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food this time. The chips were soggy, and the fish portion seemed considerably smaller than it used to be. The fish itself was extremely dry inside, while the batter was soggy and had a very strong, unpleasant fishy smell that was borderline foul. We also ordered two sausages for the children, but the skins were incredibly tough and they looked and tasted as though they had been sitting around for hours. We paid £25 for the order, which felt very steep considering the quality and portion sizes of the food we received. Such a shame, particularly as we had previously rated this as the better fish and chip shop in the area. After this experience, we’ll be looking elsewhere for our fish and chips and unfortunately won’t be returning.”

“I have been using this chippy for a short while now and thought I should leave a review as this i honestly one of the best chippy's in birmingham fish is always cooked fresh, the batter is light and crispy and the chips are always fresh and delicious... I also highly recommend the kebab meat which is always spot on. Portions are generous in size and never disappoint. The staff are always very helpful and friendly and have a smile on their faces all in all a great chippy which has never failed to deliver”
