About The White Horse Pub
The White Horse Pub is a village pub on Village Ln in Slough, where a wooden-beamed ceiling above white walls carries a collection of hanging tankards and jugs. The bar pours a rotating selection of cask ales, with bottles, cans and some ciders alongside. The smallest pour is a half pint, and tasters are not offered. Food centres on roast lunches from the kitchen, and the pub also holds a cheese night for those who want more than a drink. Dogs are welcome, so walkers can bring their own company.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the rotating selection of cask ales and ciders, which several call a standout alongside a warm welcome from friendly staff. Dog-friendliness and the garden come up repeatedly, and one reviewer mentions cheese night. On the food side, diners name the ploughmans lunch with thick sliced bread, the fish and chips, lamb kebabs and a strawberry and gooseberry sponge with custard, though one notes the food menu is more limited than the beer list. Sunday lunch draws mixed comments: one found the roast beef generous but not good in taste or quality, with a sloped table and fixed bench making it awkward, while another just missed out on a roast when booking a late table. The sharpest complaint concerns samples. One reviewer was told the pub does not do tasters and the smallest pour is a half pint, which left the group ordering tap water instead of a second round, and another reviewer says staff offered recommendations in place of tasters because the beer is in limited amounts.

“An app found this place by counting calories from a photo of my snack. These Monster Munch fit the low calories I had left for the day and tasted good. The pub is a quiet and tidy space.”

““We dont do samples” I’m not sure what to say. It seems so utterly and obviously bizarre. You have to order and pay for a half pint (minimum - i asked what was the smallest volume) and i guess if you hate it then tough luck. We met our friends here, as a place about an hr for each of us, and ordered a selection of the interesting beer options. After the first round - ordered just based on descriptions, and one of the party being not all that keen on what they got - we approached the bar for a second round. My friend who did not really enjoy her first pint (nothing against the pub - different tastes in beer and food are entirely normal) wanted to taste a different beer before deciding whether to have that or maybe move to cider. So i asked for a sample. Only to be told that they do not do samples. At all. Thats policy. The smallest volume i could order is a half pint. ??? Im still, hours later, entirely bemused by this. My friend opted for tap water, we spent far less time and money than we would otherwise have done, and will almost certainly never visit again. If we hadn’t been coming from so far in different directions, with one of our party not very well, we would have just walked out and gone elsewhere. It certainly soured the visit. All for a half inch of beer! I get that some pubs, under some circumstances, might need to restrict tasters for people who are taking the mick - a taste of every single beer on offer is obviously not reasonable. Four customers who have just paid for and drunk 3 pints and a large wine, wanting to taste one or two beers to decide what to have next, does not seem like a big ask. Ive been offered a taste in pretty much every pub I’ve been in - often without asking when i just look indecisive! Even in the middle of london - in train station bars like the Euston Tap - I’ve been given a taste when I’ve asked to help me decide. I cannot believe a pub like this has such a problem with iffy customers that they need to restrict samples more than a central london venue. We chose this option to meet up as it is recognised and even awarded by CAMRA. I am really sad and disappointed, and we wont be back unless they change, and publicly denounce, this bizarre policy.”
