About The Jolly Cricketers
The Jolly Cricketers is a pub in Beaconsfield, on Chalfont Rd, where the Sunday roast comes with roast beef and belly of pork and a giant Yorkshire pudding. The menu follows a modern gastropub approach, with a calamari starter and fish and chips alongside the roast. Local ales are poured at the bar. Inside, the pub divides into a public bar and an adjoining dining room, furnished with pine tables and pews and warmed by a fire. The mix of old and new in the decor gives each room its own look. Homemade desserts round out the menu. Seating is walk-in, with no reservations taken.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the food at this village pub, with the pork belly from the Sunday roast singled out as succulent with a cracking crust, and the roast beef called tender and perfectly pink by one reviewer. Close behind are the fish and chips, the hake main and a leek with cream dish, plus homemade desserts such as pistachio ices and affogato, a good sausage roll and scotch eggs. Reviewers also describe a warm welcome, friendly staff, a crackling fire, nostalgic decor, good beers and wine, and a dog friendly setting. The main caveat is the beef, which two reviewers found a little tough, one adding that the roast portions were small. The squid divides opinion, called exceptional by one diner and not great by another. One reviewer found the cherry pie overcooked with burnt pastry and tasteless cherries, and another thought the gnocchi a bit too heavy. Several still say they will return, and one left with what they called village pub envy.

“We went to this pub a few times for lunch - This saturday we returned and the food did not disappoint us. It was all fresh, homemade, the pie, the deserts were delicious, so much so that I could have had more of them - the gnocchis although delicious were a bit too heavy. We will definitely return.”

“Came here for a birthday treat. Service was wonderful and pork Belly was delicious however my husband had the beef and one piece was rather tough. I ordered the cherry pie for dessert but sadly it was overcooked with the pastry rather burnt on top( black) and the cherries were piping hot and rather tasteless. Didn't want to complain as the restaurant was very busy. Not one to complain but this pub was recommended to us for its 5* food.”

“I'm giving it the full 5 for the overall experience. Such a welcoming, old school pub with great beers and some top notch grub. It's one not to miss if you're in the vicinity.”
