Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is the main draw for reviewers, with huge Yorkshire puddings, rich gravy and roast potatoes mentioned repeatedly. Diners describe slow cooked beef rump, roast beef with red cabbage, and a duo of ham and sirloin, alongside honey-glazed carrots and parsnips, creamy leeks and Tenderstem broccoli. One sous chef reviewer could not fault it. Close behind, staff are called welcoming, polite and helpful even when busy, and several say dogs were made welcome in the bars. A private dining room suited one family birthday, and others mention fish and chips and sandwiches with chips. A local Bradfield ale was described as very well kept. The complaints are smaller but specific. One ham portion was mostly fatty end pieces, a prawn cocktail arrived with no bread, and a vanilla cheesecake came with toffee sauce that was unheated and in jellified lumps. Another reviewer notes that nobody checked on the table, and that a small queue waited to pay the bill while five staff stood behind the bar.

“My husband and I called in to The Fountain over the bank holiday weekend. First time we've been. Such a lovely feel to the place. Nice, friendly atmosphere, staff were polite and helpful. We ordered some food, each of us had a sandwich and chips... Very nice. All round happy customers. 🙂”

“SUNDAY ROAST 10 OUT OF 10 I went last Sunday and must say I had the nicest roast I've ever had ever. Im a sous chef myself and I couldn't fault it I was very impressed from presentation to taste just pure quality if the quality stays the same its going to be my roast dinner spot everytime I want a roast everyone knows roasts are hard to nail and I personally think they've got it bang on. see you shortly for another roast. Thanks for proper decent dinner”

“Decent public house in Ingbirchworth. Visited this evening. On a Sunday they offer a 3 course for approx £29. I had the Prawn Cocktail which was nice but served with no bread. The Roast Beef dinner was excellent, great red cabbage and large yorkshire pud (see picture), dessert was vanilla cheesecake which was okay except the menu stated toffee sauce but the sauce hadn't been heated and was just jellified lumps. Hey ho everyone makes mistakes. Service was excellent and couldn't fault that. Warm and inviting inside the restaurant area, toilets cold but did have warm running water. I was with friends and we all enjoyed it so will be returning.”

“"If you're looking for a proper Sunday roast, look no further than The Fountain. The Sunday dinner here is outstanding—everything from the roast potatoes to the rich gravy was spot on. The staff made us feel very welcome even though it was busy. Great value for money and a lovely cosy vibe.”

“Had a fantastic birthday meal and family gathering for my Mums 85th birthday. We used the private dining room which was perfect. The food was fantastic, we had the various roast dinner options and the fish and chips. The service was spot on and they found the right balance of being attentive whilst leaving us to enjoy the food. Jack (The Manager) was on hand to ensure everything ran smoothly and we had everything we needed. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt welcome and well looked after. Would highly recommend !!!”
