  “Family 80th birthday meal with family from New Zealand. Table was booked for 1.00pm had to go and ask for someone to take our order at 1.20pm. My husband and myself wanted the lamb shank, already "run out"after 1hr.20 min of service. I asked the waitress to take everyone's order and come back has I wanted to reselect. I had to go to the bar and say you didn't come back, her reply was I asked if that was everything and they all said yes. I was at the other end of the table . I said I asked for you to come back, her reply was well what do you want? I went for the beef Sunday lunch. My husband's and mine were cold, my grandson had a chicken burger, it was over fried and didn't eat it. My daughter has pork which was tasteless. My sister asked for more mashed potatoes, the waitress said you've had your mash, did bring a small bowl and was This is your extra mash. 2 people had pies and were told abruptly brought you mash for them, one were with chips. Asking for extra gravy was as if wed asked for gold. We got tiny amounts for 10 people. Had to ask them to take orders for desserts My daughter didn't like the cheesecake, was like a blamanche. The waitress was quite young with no training or etiquette. Not once did anyone come and ask during the meal if we required anything else or if everything was ok. I would have said my meal and 2 others were cold. We have gone several times here but I won't be taking my family back anytime soon it also wasn't busy like it used to be.”

  “Had an almost perfect experience here, the drinks were reasonably priced and good variety. The service was very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good however it did taste like it was cooked in dirty oil. Luckily it was still very tasty and enjoyable. I would recommend this place it’s in a very nice location with plenty of parking and seating to make for an enjoyable time with friends and family!”

  “What a fantastic spot! We stopped by on a beautiful sunny day and the views over the Huddersfield hills are absolutely breathtaking. Sitting in the outdoor area with a perfectly poured, ice-cold Staropramen was pure bliss. Great atmosphere, lovely surroundings, and the perfect place to unwind. Highly recommend if you love a good drink with a stunning view! 🍻☀️”

  “Nice pub in a lovely setting and a good atmosphere. My wife had lamb shank which she really enjoyed but I ordered chicken and ham pie which had obviously been standing on a hot plate for a long time. It was a piece of a large pie and the edges were dry, the pastry was so hard it was virtually inedible.”

  “We've always enjoyed eating here. Great food, good portion sizes and reasonable prices. Very child friendly. We have recently visited and the kids enjoyed the new outdoor games - connect 4, kaplunk and tetrus. The only tiny criticism would be that we weren't able to enjoy our meal in the outdoor area near the kids activities. We were told that due to policy they weren't able to serve food in this area. Which is a shame, as finding good pubs with child friendly activities are becoming harder to find - and opting to eat outside in an informal setting is always more appealing with children. Still love this pub, but hopefully this policy could be reviewed.”

  “Big car park, lovely decor with friendly staff, an extensive menu of good quality food at all price points and a large drinks menu. Great views over to castle hill and highly recommended for breakfast, lunch or dinner. There’s something for everyone.”

  “Booked for a family meal. Picked where we wanted to sit. Car park seemed busy but plenty of room inside. Perhaps I was being mean on taking a service star off because we had to go to bar to order. Atmosphere was quiet. The bridge at the bottom of the hill is closed for railworks, but you can get there if you want by other routes. Starters. Ribs, garlic mushrooms, prawn cocktail and mussels. All good. Mains. Steak, chicken breast, lamb shank, fetucini with chicken and ham pesto Puddings. Difficult because very full! Kam Rolypoly, ice cream, Eton mess with tea and coffee”

  “Had a great meal with the family, very filling and a good choice on the menu, proper pub food (I guess would be the statement). Price was reasonable pub price for 2 kids and 5 adults. I had steak pie and jam roll with custard. Was lovely my father had Eaton mess.”

  “A great pub / restaurant with amazing views. Good outdoor space, loads of free parking and a campsite as well. Real ale, great lagers and wine. Menu looks very good with a large array of choice. There is an ice cream bar with sooo many choices.”

  “What a pub!!! Lovely location. Great food. Had squid and Camembert for starters. Then steak pie and fish pie for mains. It's been a long time since I have found a decent pub that serves decent pub food with good servings and for a reasonable price. In terms of the food I have absolutely nothing to complain about. It was disappointing that there is no table service for drinks and for ordering your food, everything is done at the bar. The staff were nice. The decor was lovely and the seating was comfortable. Overall a fantastic place. We will definitely be back. X”
