About Shiruku
Shiruku is a pan-Asian restaurant in New Bailey, Salford, at Suite 2, and a steakhouse from Ribeye Steakhouse. Steaks share the table with sushi and small plates, so one order can combine cuts of beef with sashimi and rolls. The menu opens with nibbles and sushi, with mains in a smaller section, and the plates are set up for tapas-style sharing. Beef runs through the kitchen, from beef ribs to beef noodle ramen, and the sushi list includes a sushi platter alongside beef sushi. The restaurant is fully halal, and a mocktail list sits next to the food. A private dining room is available for events such as birthdays, which suits groups.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly, attentive staff are the most consistent praise at this halal Pan-Asian steakhouse, with servers described as helpful with suggestions and checking in throughout. Close behind are the mocktails, called delicious and really good, and the beef dishes. The beef tacos, fillet steak and beef sushi all earn praise, alongside the truffle gnocchi and a prawns main. Several reviewers came for birthdays, and the private dining room is called stunning. The food verdicts split sharply, though. One diner found the sushi platter poor, with cold, hard rice, frozen cooked prawns and small nigiri, and called the beef ribs decent but small for the money. Another found every dish bland, and one sashimi order arrived frozen. The harshest review describes a long wait for starters, many dishes sent back, mixed-up orders and a service charge still applied. Desserts were called fine or average, yet a surprise birthday dessert delighted one table.

“Absolutely outstanding. Michelin-star level food, presentation, and service. Every dish was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and cooked perfectly. The quality of the ingredients was exceptional, and the attention to detail in both the food and the service really stood out. The staff were professional, attentive, and welcoming throughout the whole experience. Easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Manchester. Highly recommended — 10/10.”

“Served by Habibah, had a lovely time for a girls dinner. We ordered an assortment of sushi, edamame pods for sharing and tried the sandwiches and beef noodle ramen - the food was lovely! We al so tried the desserts which were average. The mocktails were really good though! We would come back again :)”

“Visited Shiruku in Manchester to celebrate my birthday as we love trying new restaurants. Given its reputation as an upscale halal restaurant, we had high expectations. While the service was excellent, the food unfortunately didn’t match the premium prices. The highlights were definitely the mocktails, which were delicious, and the truffle gnocchi. Every member of staff was also incredibly friendly, attentive and welcoming. Unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing. The biggest let-down was the sushi platter. Shiruku heavily promotes its sushi as being premium quality, but it was nowhere near the standard we expected. Having eaten sushi regularly and working in a sushi restaurant myself, I feel confident saying that the quality simply did not justify the price. The sushi rice was cold and noticeably hard, giving the impression that it had been refrigerated rather than freshly prepared, tastes like meal deal sushi. The ingredients also didn’t feel premium. The platter (£60) included 3 salmon nigiri, 3 prawn nigiri, 3 prawn sashimi, 3 tuna sashimi, 4–5 pieces of salmon sashimi, and a prawn avocado roll. The prawns used for both the nigiri and sashimi were the standard frozen cooked prawns commonly used in budget sushi shops. Even many lower-priced sushi restaurants use the exact same product. The nigiri itself was very small. At this price point, I expected more generous portions, higher-quality fish, and noticeably fresher ingredients. The prawn avocado roll was also disappointing—the prawn didn’t taste freshly fried, lacked the texture of tempura, and was served cold. For comparison, the sushi restaurant where I work would charge around £40 at most for a platter of similar size, and we actually offer a larger platter for under £40. Therefore, paying £60 for approximately 24 pieces of sushi led me to expect premium ingredients, freshness, better craftsmanship and a more memorable dining experience. Unfortunately, none of those expectations were met, making the sushi extremely poor value for money. The beef ribs were decent but nothing special. At £34, the portion was quite small and didn’t justify the price, especially considering there are better options elsewhere in Manchester. To make matters worse, we found hairs on both one of our dishes and the sushi platter, which completely put us off the meal. Overall, Shiruku delivers fantastic service and great mocktails, but the food simply didn’t live up to its prices. Sadly, I wouldn’t return or recommend it—especially if you’re visiting for the sushi.”

“We were looking for a new exciting restaurant to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary and so we were keen to try out this fully halal venue. The waiting staff were very friendly, the venue was beautiful and the food was so well presented. However, we both felt that all the dishes we tried were very bland and lacking in taste which I would say is the priority when you dine out. So we were left feeling a little disappointed after spending so much money on what was a rare night out for us. I would not recommend for that reason.”
