Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out staff who talk diners through the menu and suggest dishes and wines, with several describing friendly, attentive service that made choosing easier. Food follows close behind. Tuna tartare, tempura haloumi, houmous, a rib eye with a good sear, and a shiso vinaigrette one diner could drink by the bowl all draw praise, along with beautiful presentation and cocktails such as the Athena and the themed air, water, fire, earth menu. The complaints are specific. Two diners found the music loud enough that they had to shout, and one said the room felt like a nightclub. A few found service slow or inattentive, including a long wait for the bill. One called the food overpriced and was charged per person for a large sharing steak after staff had quoted a single figure. Another found the langoustine orzo had barely any langoustine. One lunch ended with a huge frozen Greek yoghurt with candied walnuts, honey and Greek doughnuts.

“This has been one of the best Greek restaurants I have been too. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The service was a nicely timed. We weren't rushed and it didn't feel like we sat there forever waiting. The food was amazing, the chicken melted in your mouth. The houmous was quite literally the best houmous I have ever tasted. The desert was my favourite part. I had the Athena cocktail and I have never been so in love with a drink before. My partner got the wine, and when he need another drink the waiter was able to tell what wine he was drinking by the colour of it. It was a 10/10 experience.”

“We had an amazing experience at Fenix for our first wedding anniversary! It was our first time visiting, and Owen made it even more memorable. As we only eat halal and don’t drink, he took the time to explain everything on the menu and made us feel completely comfortable with our choices. The service was absolutely top-notch, the food was amazing, and the whole experience was perfect. Thank you, Owen, for making our anniversary so special and memorable. We’ll definitely be back!”

“Everything about this place was impeccable. The staff was attentive and always answered your questions or explained the concepts, with a lot of information given prior to your booking. The interior is stunning, making you feel like you are on a beach, but elevated. Ambient lightning, beautiful tables and spacious seating area will always make you feel comfortable. I especially liked the tiny lamp on the table - great for photos. The food was also delicious, especially the Tuna tartare, the tempura haloumi, and the ice cream inspired of Greek deserts. My only disappointment is the langoustine orzo as it had barely any langoustine - perhaps if they did it with more seafood it would be better. I loved the themed 'air, water, fire, earth' cocktail menu, such an innovative idea.”

“I visited Fenix at The Goods Yard in Manchester recently, and the food absolutely delivered. The standout was the rib eye steak – beautifully cooked with a perfect sear, served alongside creamy mashed potato and quality sides including marinated olives and fresh vegetables. The pasta dishes were equally impressive, with rich, earthy sauces and thoughtful plating. Every plate showed attention to detail, from charred cabbage to roasted zucchini done just right. The presentation is well above average for the price point. However, the experience was marred by service issues. I had to ask twice for the bill, and when it eventually arrived, the wait was over 10 minutes – frustrating when you’re ready to leave. On a smaller note, the napkins had a musty, mouldy smell, which felt like a hygiene slip-up that shouldn’t happen in a restaurant of this caliber. Only noticed when wiping some food from my mouth. The verdict: Fenix has genuinely excellent food and a nice atmosphere at The Goods Yard. If they tighten up their service consistency and basic hygiene checks, this would easily be a 5-star spot. Worth a visit for the cooking, just be patient with the pacing.”

“Went to Fenix for a midweek lunch without kids. We were invited to have a drink downstairs in the Nest bar which was great. Then for lunch we had the Summer Edit tasting menu which was phenomenal. Our waiter, Liam was great and talked us through the menu as well as advised on which wine we should choose. Food was excellent, especially the shiso vinaigrette which I could drink bowls of! The huge frozen greek yoghurt with candied walnuts honey and Greek doughnuts was the perfect finale.”
